Can't sync with iCloud Drive on Yosemite

Just got a new MBP and can't get 1PW to sync. When I clicked "sync with iCloud" it told me to enable the sync in system preferences. Did that, however on Yosemite there was no option to enable iCloud, only iCloud Drive--everything else was selected per my normal settings, none of which were involving 1PW's back-up files stored on my iCloud. After I enabled iCloud Drive I went back to 1PW and the iCloud sync option was no longer there--why I do not know. A caveat of upgrading to iCloud drive is that now I cannot access info on my old iCloud until I upgrade my old MBP to Yosemite in order to run iCloud Drive, which I cannot do be cause the MBP is basically dead and unable to handle a Yosemite upgrade. I have been put in a limbo now where I do not know how to get my 1PW back-up files because 1PW does not identify iCloud Drive (or iCloud to my knowledge) and I can't transfer them manually via an external HD off my old MBP. I tried doing the email license reset but Agilebits says my email doesn't exist, which might be true because I bought it on iTunes (which doesn't provide a license code). It seems I have been locked out of my own iCloud by Apple's lack of foresight, if there is no way to access the data on my (now) old iCloud account. What should I do?

    Hi @fishbelly,

I'm so sorry to hear about the trouble you're having here. Apple has made some big changes to iCloud between iOS 7/OS X 10.9 (Mavericks) and iOS 8/OS X 10.10 (Yosemite), and that's causing a fair bit of frustration for users who have to work with both operating systems.

I license reset should not be necessary here, but you're right - if you purchased 1Password from the Mac App Store, your license details will not be in our back office records, as they are tied directly to your AppleID.

Do you currently have access to your database in 1Password on your older computer? If so, I'd recommend switching to Dropbox, which would make syncing your data to your new machine simple.

I'm also having problems syncing my One Password. I set it up on my macbook air and then went to my iphone6 where the cloud failed to sync. dropbox sync returned the 404 error. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  • Hi @Neophyte‌,

I recommend you create a new thread with your specific issues (unless you believe them to be very similar or the same as @fishbelly). Please include specific error messages, screenshots if possible... and what it is that you've tried. For example what exactly you mean by "the cloud failed to sync." From there we'll have a better idea of what's going on and will be able to give recommendations.

Thanks for the reply Megan. I ended up uninstalling 1PW4 on all browsers on both computers and installing 1PW5. Using dropbox for the sync on Yosemite and seems to be working well. Thanks for the help!!
