Clean re-install doesn't work
I'm having trouble with 1Password on one of my macs. It was using an old password (which I couldn't remember) to access the Dropbox database. I followed the instructions to rename/delete the Agile folder in ~/Library/Containers/ and launch the app again but it kept the old password so I couldn't log in to change anything in the preferences.
Whatever I've done seems to have broken it. I now can't change the master password, even if I could remember the old one. I get a message saying I cannot change the master password when a secondary vault is active. Every time I deleted the Agile folders, a new one on iCloud is created, even though I never set up iCloud Drive as a secondary vault - to my knowledge.
So what I need is a clean install. I know the current password to the vault on DB, I use 1Password on iPad, iPhone and 1 mac daily, I just can't get it working on my second mac, which I'm using over the holidays.

On the assumption you're using either 1P4 or 1P5 on the Mac on which you wish to re-install see this knowledge base article on starting over. I think you should first disable sync on that Mac before following that procedure.

Hi @chrstn411
I'm sorry to hear that you've been having trouble with 1Password lately! Stephen_C is right, you will need to disable sync before using the Starting Over instructions that he linked to. If that doesn't help, I'll need to know a little bit more about your 1Password ecosystem:
- What are the version numbers of 1Password and your operating system for all computers and devices running 1Password?
- Just to confirm: your data is up-to-date on all devices except for the second Mac, correct?
I now can't change the master password, even if I could remember the old one. I get a message saying I cannot change the master password when a secondary vault is active.
At this time it is not possible to change the Master Password of a secondary vault, but you should be able to change the Master Password of your primary vault if necessary. I'd love to see a screenshot of this message that you're seeing. To include it in your reply, simply click the document button in the top of the comment field, and select the file you wish to share:
It sounds a little bit like 1Password is finding some sort of vault data in iCloud, but the more detail you can provide, the more quickly we'll be able to get you sorted out! :)
