Logins are in 1Pwd and 1Pwd mini, but login not showing as option on several sites [Resolved]
OSX 10.9.5, 1Pass 4.4.1, dropbox sync
Was working normal about 2 to 3 weeks ago. Now when I visited several sites the, corresponding logins are not showing up in the Chrome or FF browser plugin. Even after I save a new login for a fresh new site, it is not a choice when I try to login again.
Why are my passwords properly showing in the 1password app & mini, but not available to me when I try to login with the browser plug-in?
I've tried:
- uninstalling and reinstalling the chrome extension.
- edited a few of the saved URLs

This is very strange because 1P mini and the browser extension are merely front ends for the same database so both should show the same things. I assume you have tried:
- quitting and re-starting Chrome;
- rebooting your Mac.
If not, just try those and see if either helps.

Tried both of those, no luck. Any other ideas?
Just saved the password for https://discussions.agilebits.com, shows in the huge list of logins under logins >, but not showing on the top as a choice for the site.

Hi @swarmy
Very odd. I've got a couple of questions.
- So are all of your Login items under the Logins and it's just the normally filtered list at the top that seems to be not working?
- Do they start appearing if you start typing out their name?

- Yes, correct.
- Yes, the missing logins start to show when typing their name. Clicking them however, opens a new tab.
For example I have 6 paypal logins, but now only 4 show when i visit paypal.om. The other 2 can be seen when I start typing "paypal".

Hi @swarmy
Can you verify a couple of things for me please. Can you check your 6 PayPal entries and compare the website field in each, do the two that are normally 'missing' have different URLs? If they do that might help explain what you're seeing.
If they're different but you normally used to see them I'm wondering if a particular preference setting has been altered. If you open 1Password and enter the preferences you should see a Browser tab. If you switch to it, is the Lenient URL matching ticked or not? Does 1Password behave more as you remembered it doing if you change that setting?
I'll be interested in your findings on both of those and if need be we can continue troubleshooting.

Hi,
I played with the Lenient URL matching both off and on. I also played with the URLs, making sure they match, even saving new logins, logging out, and going back to login again, yet it doesn't show.
Other details: I have a MacBook Pro with 10.10.1 and 1Password 5.0.2, which I sync with and am having no problems with 1Pass on that machine. Works as it should. I don't want to upgrade to Yosemite yet on iMac, as I feel it has slowed my 2011 mac pro. Could this be an issue?

Hi @swarmy
You shouldn't need to upgrade, I don't believe this part of 1Password has changed much between 1Password 4 and 1Password 5.
There is one behaviour in 1Password that I know exists but I've always struggled to observe on my own system. When you use 1Password mini and bring up the 4 PayPal options, does it say anything underneath in grey text? I know under certain conditions there could be a line saying something like Show 2 more items and that if you click on it it will expand the menu. Could that be what you're seeing? I'm less confident that this is the cause but it's worth confirming.
Can I ask, do you use Dropbox or iCloud for syncing? this isn't a likely cause at all, but I'm toying with the idea of wiping 1Password and having it start afresh. If your data is in Dropbox it will make starting again easy.

Hi,
I see the grey text "show X more items" all the time for stuff like google and twitter accounts as I have more than 5 of each. That works as it should.
I do use dropbox for sync, so I guess a reinstall is next...

Hi @swarmy,
Can you confirm that adding a new login via "Save new Login" from the browser extension creates a correct Login entry in 1Password? Specifically what I'm looking for here is that the URL of this newly created Login is correct. I ask this because this would rule out a few things (communication between extension and mini is correctly working, extension can properly read URL from browser).
While I doubt that doing a full re-install of 1Password will necessarily fix this, it may be worth a try. If you want to try that, you can follow our Starting Over guide. Just make sure that you've recently synced to Dropbox. Wouldn't want you to lose data because of this.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi,
'Save new login' did create a correct URL, yet would not show. I checked one of the missing PayPal entries, and URL was "http://www.paypal.com" so nothing unusual there.
I did the uninstall, ( via CleanMyMac2 ), then reinstalled via app store. Result was same. Then I followed the Starting Over guide, and on relaunch it said it found the data in dropbox. It started at 6 items and then up to my last total of 840. Went to a site and sure enough, all logins were now there, working as it should.
So thanks, glad to get this resolved.

Hi @swarmy,
I'm glad to hear that you've got things sorted out! I just wanted to mention that generally we ask users to avoid using any app cleaners when reinstalling the software, as they tend to get a bit over-zealous. It's great that the starting over instructions got things working.
Since this particular issue is resolved, I'll close this thread, but if you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to open a new thread, or email us directly at support+forum@agilebits.com - we're here for you. :)
