Legacy versions, near the bottom of the download page, gets to 1PW4, which is what you need. Or even 1PW3, if that is what you previously used.

Hi @storstygg,
As danco mentioned, there is a "Legacy" section at the bottom of our download site where you can download 1Password 4 for Mac. If you bought a license for 1Password 5 from our web store, that same license file will work for version 4.
Or, if you bought 1Password from the Mac App Store, delete the 1Password 5 app and then re-download it from the Mac App Store (make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you had used to buy it). It should allow you to download version 4.
I hope that helps, but please let us know if you have more questions about that. :)

Thanks for the info. Looks like I can install it now.
Was I to have backed that data up before I wiped my machine? Did I erroneously think you'd store the data on your servers then it would magically reappear when I reinstalled?

I really hope you have a backup @storstygg :( Unless you synchronised you vault with Dropbox then the vault would have only existed on your Mac. Part of why people use 1Password over other services is we leave the user in control of their vault. My vault is only on the devices I specifically place them on, it only exists in Dropbox or iCloud if I specifically set it up to sync there and it is my responsibility to ensure I backup my vault should the worst happen and my hard drive or SSD fails.
Surely work though would not simply wipe your entire user account and anything you had stored? That sounds like an extremely careless way to handle an upgrade of any kind. If your user account is over the network then you should be fine as we hold your vault in your
~/Library/
folder. I do hope you haven't lost anything.0
