Failed to connect with 1Password mini [Resolved]

Every time I launch 1Password 5, it freezes and I have to force quit. When I click the icon on Chrome it opens a new tab and says it's looking for the extension. I continue to get the message, "1Password failed to connect with 1Password mini" and it tells me to quit and restart the application (which, again freezes when I launch it). I'd love suggestions about how to fix this!

    Hi @alavitt,

I'm sorry you're unable to open the 1Password app! If you're using the web store version of 1Password 5 for Mac, please try these steps:

    • Go to your Applications folder and drag 1Password 5.app to the Trash (do not use any app cleaning tools).
    • Empty the Trash, then reboot your Mac.
    • After the reboot, download a fresh copy of 1Password 5 from our download site.
    • Once downloaded, unzip the file if necessary and drag it to the Applications folder.
    • Double-click the new app to open it.

Does it work now, or do you still get the same error? Please let us know how it works out for you. Thanks!
