A theory...you are using 1P5 from the Mac App Store and at one stage downloaded the autosubmit script? See this AgileBits post.

In that case you might explain a little more fully what "gear" it is that keeps on turning. A screen shot would probably help.

  • Hi @rextilleon,

Are you running the Mac App Store version, and at one point you were running the AgileBits Store version? If so, the AgileBits store version auto-installs the autosubmit script, so you wouldn't have needed to download it.

The only gear icon that should show up in the menu bar as part of running 1Password is that autosubmit script. It's what makes it possible to automatically submit logins after we've entered them for you in a browser. In some cases OS X gets stuck while running it. It's not technically us that runs it, we have to ask the system to run it on your behalf.

When they get stuck, you have two options for getting rid of them:
    1. Log out/login of your account on your Mac.
    2. Launch Activity Monitor, find the "1Password_autosubmit" processes, and terminate them.

It'd be nice if OS X would trip up running a 1 line piece of applescript.

    Rick
