Can I use 1PW on a Maverics computer and on a Yosemite computer with one license?

We have a Mac Mini with Maverics and a Macbook Air with Yosemite. Can we run 1PW on both with a single license, and if so, what would be the procedure. Have downloaded 4 to the Mini, but nothing to the Macbook. We have not purchased a license.

    Yes.

    If you buy direct from Agile's web store, then the same license file works for versions 4 and 5. Of course, you need to get the file onto both computers.

    If you buy from Apple's App Store, the procedure is a bit mor complicated, but can still be done.

    The difference between the App Store version and the one direct from Agile is that only the App Store version allows iCloud sync. Both versions allow Dropbox sync, which has some advantages anyway. Lots of people including Agile staff use Dropbox, but some people insist on using iCloud.

    Hi @tmanney,

    Everything danco has said is correct but I just want to add a couple of things.

    As 1Password 5 was a free upgrade to 1Password 4 any 1Password 4/5 licence will work. Purchasing a 1Password 5 licence will entitle you to use 1Password 3 or newer as we do try to account for the fact that not everybody is running Yosemite or indeed even Mavericks and of course if you were to upgrade the Mavericks machine to Yosemite you'd be eligible to run 1Password 5 there too.

    Apple's Mac App Store (MAS) is a little trickier but it can work. You have to purchase 1Password 5 on the Yosemite machine as Apple will inform you that 1Password 5 isn't compatible with Mavericks. Having purchased 1Password 5 though, if you go to the Purchases tab of the App Store on your Mavericks machine and try to download 1Password 5 you will be once again informed that it isn't compatible but the difference is this time you will be asked if you wish to download the last compatible version.

    danco's comments regarding iCloud are correct but will only make a difference should you upgrade Mavericks to Yosemite. The reason is even if you run the MAS version, iCloud support broke down between Mavericks and Yosemite when Apple released iCloud Drive and CloudKit. Only Yosemite and iOS 8 can use the new iCloud Drive meaning only instances if 1Password 5 can use iCloud Sync, you can't mix and match 1Password 4 and 5 I'm afraid. Still, if you desire iCloud Sync support once you've gone completely 1Password 5 then you'd be better off purchasing the MAS version now.
