Passwords generated with the browser extension not saved to the vault
I use that all the time, I create an account on a web site and use the password generator to create a password. I usually then (eventually) switch to 1Password and convert the password into a log in. Seems that the last time this worked for me was on February 20th. In recent days I've use the extension and nothing is saved to the vault.
1password version: 5.1 (510035)
Extension version: 4.3.0.90 ( I tried re-installing from the app and got the same version number).

Do you mean there's also nothing saved at all in your Password category? If you generate a password in 1P that is not specifically linked to a saved login item it should end up automatically saved in that category.

Yes that's exactly what I mean. The most recent entry in the Password category dates back from February and I registered one this morning (using the browser extension).

Hi @Thoom,
Were you prompted to save a new Login item in 1Password when you created your account on the website? If so (and assuming you chose to save it), 1Password would have automatically converted the Password item to a Login item for you. Have you checked your Logins to make sure you don't have a new one for that site, with the password you generated?
If 1Password doesn't have any new Login or Password item with your generated password, there's another possible explanation: When you use the Password Generator from 1Password mini or the browser extension, do you click the Fill button? Or do you use ⌘C (or right-click > Copy) to copy & paste the generated password?
If you click the Fill button (or if you click the ▼ button next to Fill and choose Copy), that will create a new Password item in 1Password. On the other hand, if you copy it by selecting the generated password and using ⌘C (or right-click > Copy), it won't be stored as a Password item in 1Password.
Please let us know if that helps to explain what happened. If not, we'll continue to try to figure out what went wrong. Thanks!

Hey there,
no I didn't get prompted to save the new login item, now that I think of it. I did use the FILL button though.0 -
@Thoom: That is certainly odd. I tested this myself using the Mac App Store version of 1Password and the Safari extension, and clicking either Fill or selecting Copy from the ▼ dropdown both saved new Password items to my vault. Since you indicated that you are not being prompted to save new logins either, I wonder if something is preventing 1Password from communicating with the extension altogether.
Which version of OS X are you using, and which web browser? Please check out our extension troubleshooting guide as well. Sometimes 1Password mini is blocked by security software, or may be crashing. Let me know what you find. We will get to the bottom of this!

Hi, thanks for looking into this. I use the non-MAS version as my main but keep the MAS version for my license, perhaps that helps.
Yosemite: 10.10.2 (14C1510)
Chrome: 41.0.2272.101 (64-bit)I checked the troubleshooting guide you provided and the only thing I can see would be that I'm running Avast (which is not on the list). It might be the cause, although since this incident I've been asked for saving logins by 1Password so perhaps things are back to normal. I haven't generated a password with the extension though.

@Thoom: Sometimes something (even the OS X firewall) can get hung up and 'stop traffic' (1Password uses localhost networking to communicate with the extension, so anything that filters or blocks network activity can cause trouble).
I'm glad to hear that things seem to be working normally for you now, but do update us if you have further trouble. We're here if you need us! :)
