Manage domain ownership in 1Password
Now, when you are tech-savy 1Password user chances are that you call at least one domain your own.
Recently I have started to explore more of the possibilities of online identities and possible future projects.
Of course I do have the logins of the domain hosters saved in 1Password! But to actually manage them I have to check within my mails and log into all the different hosters if I don't remember where I have them. This includes things like renewals, date of first registration and price.
Is there anyone else craving for this? What are your thoughts on the subject?

Hi @Weltenbummler ,
Thanks so much for the suggestion! Have you spent much time looking at 1Password's custom fields? With custom fields, you can add all kinds of additional data to your 1Password entries.
What do you think of this solution?

Hey Megan,
I'm aware of that. Though I find it hard to get an overview of all your domains at a glance because I have to go through every single login.
Compared to memberships and social insurance numbers I have a lot more domains, similar to the number of E-Mail accounts.0 -
Hi @Weltenbummler,
I'm not sure if I completely understand what you'd like to do. Would you be able to elaborate on exactly what you want to be able to do in 1Password? Do you need to save certain information in 1Password which doesn't currently seem to fit anywhere?
Thanks!

Hi Drew,
a list of all the domain names I own.
They should contain additional information like registrar, registration date, time until next renewal, webpage to configure it, price per month/year, data field for certificates and of course passwords. This is very important for me, even when I am working with databases and servers (which are obviously covered by 1P) there is often a domain which goes with it. I'm fully convinced that domain names should be part of the technical categories like servers, databases and e-mail-accounts.Putting this into other categories seems like a misfit and makes it hard to find all of them at a glance.

Hi @Weltenbummler ,
Thanks for clarifying! While you're correct, we don't have a specific category for domains, there are a few things you could do to make it easier to find your domain information within the current category organization.
Tags and Smart Folders
- Add your extra domain details to your existing Logins
- Tag the domain Logins with a 'domain' tag (or some other term that makes sense to you!)
- Create a Smart Folder to group all items with the 'domain' tag
Secure Notes
Have you taken a look at Secure Notes since the latest (5.3) update to 1Password? We've added the ability to use sections and custom fields, which makes the category a lot more powerful. For example, you could store each of your domains in a Secure Note (and if you start each title with the 'www', they'll all be easy to find in the list!)
I hope these options help. We hear a lot of requests for different categories in 1Password, and we're considering all options when we re-design this feature in the future.
