Login numbers versus Password numbers
I'm a new user. I've successfully set up 12 new Logins for 12 sites I use. For each one I also used Password Generator to produce a new complex password. It worked fine. When I then go to the 1Password dropdown I have 12 Logins saved (correct!), but at the Passwords dropdown I only have 5. Why? I guess I've done something wrong, but what??

Can you please explain what you mean by the "Passwords dropdown"? If you are referring to the Passwords category in 1P4 or 1P5, that stores only generated passwords not specifically linked to saved Login items (i.e., the URL to which you've saved a login may, for example, differ slightly from that used when you generated the password.)
If, on the other hand, you mean the logins are not displayed in 1P mini (i.e., when you click on the 1P icon in the menu bar of your Mac, or the menu bar of your browser) then go to one of the relevant items in the main 1P app, edit it and check that the display field (towards the bottom of the entry) is set to Always.

Hi @jrlp2727,
Let us know if Stephen_C's post helped at all
Password items, when generated by the Password Generator are more intended as a backup, a way of ensuring you can retrieve a randomly generated password for any reason. The goal though is they end up in the relevant Login item which is the item type that 1Password uses to log you into a site. A good clue would be if the passwords stored in these 5 are also stored in a Login item that matches to the same site. If they do and seem to match up I would expect our drop down menu option, Help > Tools > Remove Redundant Generated Passwords to remove those five entries. It would compare the URL and the password and only remove the items if the information is correctly recorded in a Login item.
Now if we've misunderstood do please let us know too and once we have a better understanding we'll help

Thank you, both Stephen_C and littlebobbytables. Stephen: The "dropdown" I mentioned was a reference to the 1P mini icon extension in the Safari. Your combined replies have helped, thnak you, although I'm mystified why I had entries for the same website in both the Login menu and the Password menu (with different (generated) passwords!) I guess I may be doing something wrong when I ask 1Password to generate a password and save it to the Login. Ah well, I guess I'll ge the hang of it but, despite being quite experienced with IT and software, I've found it a much steeper learning curve than I anticipated and it isn't intuitive or simple.

Hi @jrlp2727,
I'm glad that Stephen and littlebobbytables were able to help! To address your other concerns:
I'm mystified why I had entries for the same website in both the Login menu and the Password menu (with different (generated) passwords!) I guess I may be doing something wrong when I ask 1Password to generate a password and save it to the Login.
When using the Password Generator from 1Password mini or the browser extension, every time you click the Fill button (or if you click the ▼ button next to Fill and choose Copy), that will automatically create a new Password item in 1Password. Then, when you submit the web form with the password, 1Password will usually offer to save or update a Login item for you. When that happens, a Login item is created or updated with your generated password, and the corresponding Password item is automatically removed. If you aren't prompted to save/update a Login item with the new generated password, the new Password item will still be listed in the "Passwords" category.
So, one possible reason for having a Login item and a Password item for the same site (but with different passwords) is if you used the password generator to change your password on a website, but weren't prompted to update your existing Login item. What you'll want to do is confirm which password is the right one. If the one saved in the Password item is correct, copy that password to your Login item. If the one saved in your Login item is correct, you can delete the Password item if you want.
In case it helps, you might want to take a look at this knowledgebase article: How to change a password for a site saved in 1Password
I've found it a much steeper learning curve than I anticipated and it isn't intuitive or simple.
There are a few things to learn about 1Password, but I'm sure you'll understand it in no time. We're always happy to help, so if you have more questions, please let us know! :)
