I did this successfully a couple of days ago but now when I try "save new login" nothing happens.

Please explain rather more fully exactly what the problem is. I'm guessing that you mean that when you try to create and save a login manually the procedure fails to save the login. Is that correct? If so, please confirm you're following the exact procedure in the linked article (and I'm also assuming you're using 1P5 for Mac).

If my guess is incorrect please explain exactly what the problem is.

    Hi @Al_Balderdash ,

Please let me know if Stephen's instructions helped at all. If you're still having trouble, we'd love to hear a bit more detail on the situation so that we can help get this resolved!

    Hi Stephen &Megan,
Stephen is correct & I am using IP5 for Mac. I confirm I followed the procedure exactly ( it is pretty straight forward) but "save the login" gave nil result!

"save the login" gave nil result!

I'm sorry but I'm still not understanding. Are you saying that when you followed exactly the procedure in the linked article:

    1. no new login was saved; or
    2. a new login was saved but it still doesn't work?

It might help if you can give us the URL that's giving you problems (unless it's confidential, of course).

Hi Stephen, https://www.everydayrewards.com.au/edr/static/rewards/anon/home/index.html As I said, nothing happens, no new login, no anything.

Have you tried searching 1P for Everydayrewards? I tried setting up a fictitious login using the URL you gave and 1P5 prompted me to save it and it was saved under that name.

If you still don't see the login please let us know:

    1. what browser you're using; and
    2. the version number of the 1P extension in the browser.

(I used Firefox 37.0.2 and the 1P 4.4.0.b5 browser extension.)

    Hi @Al_Balderdash ,

Please let me know if you're able to find an entry in 1Password for 'Everydayrewards', as Stephen suggests.

When I tested this site, using the Save a New Login Manually steps from our Knowledgebase, I got the 'Save new Login' pop-up as expected.

If you are seeing something different, we'd be more than happy to investigate. Please let us know the exact steps that you're taking, including what you expect to happen and what actually happens at each stage. This will give us a better idea of where things are getting tangled up. :)

    Hi Megan & Stephen,
I tried again after re-booting. Hey presto, all working OK. The problem was as I first explained, after all steps and clicking on "save new login" nothing happened. i.e. no pop-up, nothing. Thanks anyway for your forbearance.

    Hi @Al_Balderdash,

Well despite us not being any the wiser as to why it was happening at least it's working once again. Can I ask, when this was happening was 1Password at least filling in a Login when requested? I ask as I'm wondering if for some reason 1Password mini wasn't running which it would need to be for anything browser related to work. A reboot would mean a fresh launch of 1Password mini you see hence my question.

If the issue comes back at all please do let us know

    Hi littlebobby,
I am having other, possibly related, problems. Perhaps I should give you some background. I am in Australia, I'm 83 years old and have to admit to being not quite as "with it" as I used to be. I have had IP for a while but have just got round to setting it up. Some of my web pages have been giving me problems which I am gradually working through. For example UBank (an eBank of ANZ banking); I have 2 accounts and they appeared to be working OK but now don't. Trying to open from IP mini did work but no longer does. I can open the web page from IP mini drop down menu by clicking on the web address, it gets to the login page but doesn't fill in the password etc. As I say I am working through these glitches and only ask for your help when I have to.

Can you please try one thing for us, to discount a possibility? Do a Spotlight search for 1Password and tell us what the result is. (I'd like to be sure you don't have more than one copy of 1P on your Mac, or on any disk permanently attached to it.)

    Hi @Al_Balderdash,

We're here to help so please do post when you're having problems.

Now if I've understood correctly you're saying a Login item that used to work now only opens the correct URL but doesn't fill any more.

There are a couple of possible reasons.

    1. The website developers have changed some of the underlying code. It can be the page doesn't even look different yet a Login fails to work now. The first trick to try is to create a brand new Login item using our How to manually save a Login guide. If that works would copy over any other bits of information from the old Login to the new one and then delete the old, non-functional one.
    2. We did recently make a massive change to how 1Password fills in and we're using a new filling logic that has been tirelessly worked on these last few months. We're always working on improving it as no one single approach can cover the myriad of website designs out there. If the How to manually save a Login trick doesn't work we'd love to know the URL so we can investigate and see if we can come up with at least a temporary workaround if the only real way forward is a fix in the code.

We look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Littlebobby,
I had one other example of a site which had worked but then didn't. It is a Credit Union called BCU (Bananacoast Credit Union); after a manual login this then worked OK.
UBank was a more complex one. After a manual login it only went as far as the login page but wouldn't fill in the password etc. I noticed that a second web address had appeared and when that address was chosen it worked! I then deleted the first address and all worked OK.
I can send you the URL for both the above sites if it will help. I assume the actual web address on IP should not be sent?

    cheers Al.

    Hi @Al_Balderdash,

Financial sites are amongst the trickiest we deal with as they come up with some truly inventive "security" measures. The quotation marks are because I'm not entirely convinced all the different approaches enhance our security.

Now one thing we often see with financial sites are multi-page logins. These can be quite hit and miss. Sometimes a single Login item can be made that works for both, sometimes it (sadly) requires two Login items, one for each page. We have a page titled Using 1Password with login sequences split across multiple pages.

So my recommendation would be to check out that page to start. If it helps fantastic! If it doesn't we can look at the first URL which will be a generic login page for all customers. Posting that in the forums would give nothing away but if you're concerned at all we can communicate about it more privately if you prefer.

    Hi littlebobby,

As you say, banks!!!! I have read the multiple pages info. but none of my bank logins fall into that category (although hovering over the web page notes on BCU shows "IP over multiple pages"?). BCU now appears to login OK. They use a second login page but it requires a once only 6 digit number retrieved from a dongle they supply. I don't understand how it works but on the surface it appears to be a safe system. http://www.bcu.com.au

I am still having problems with UBank. I have 2 accounts with different emails but identical password. https://www.ubank.com.au could you try it please. Any hints would be appreciated.

    Ta, Al.

    Hi @Al_Balderdash,

I think I know what might be the issue here. When you visit https://www.ubank.com.au/ the user needs to manually click on the Login link in the top right hand corner to bring up the mini login window which is hidden. Now 1Password doesn't have this level of automation which means open and fill can't work on their main page. If you click on the Login link and bring up the mini login window you should find ⌘\ fills in the now visible login window successfully, certainly it did for me.

The alternative is the second URL that 1Password finds. https://www.ubank.com.au/NAGAuthn/login.action is a direct link to the actual login window and it will load. Now it doesn't look like a proper page at all as it was never intended to be loaded directly like that but as long as it works then it would allow open and fill to work.

So one approach would be to load the main page, open the mini login window and then use ⌘\.

The other would be to change the ordering of the two website fields. If you edit the Login item you can drag the second website field above the first using the drag control that I've circled in this screenshot.

Then by default it would use the bare login page for open and fill.

Do either of these help or have I misunderstood the query? Please do let us know

    Hi littlebobby

I didn't try your first suggestion because I want my wife to be able to use 1P when I am not around so KISS is the motto (Keep It Simple Stupid).
I changed the order of the 2 web pages by cut and paste (I couldn't find the drag symbol) and it worked OK.
So in conclusion everything is now working as it should thanks to your patience and expert advice.
    Ta, Al.
