AgileBits Update: Hi Everyone! We've released v6.1.1 of the app to the App Store to address this issue. Please go to the Updates list in the App Store app to download it. Thanks for the help in verifying the update, everyone.

For the future I'd highly recommend making regular backups of your 1Password data, if you have not been doing so already: https://support.1password.com/ios-itunes-backups/
The backups built into iOS are not sufficient.

    Hi, all!

I just updated the 1Password app on my iPhone 5 with the version 6.1
Impossible to open now the app, it keeps crashing every time I try to open it!
Now I cannot access any of my stored passwords :-(
Any ideas? Is it a buggy update. Am I the only one?
Thank you in advance for your help.

    Hi all,
I've upgraded on my iPhone 5s, same problem. Is there a cure.

  • Hi folks,

I'm very sorry to hear about the trouble. Have you tried restarting your device since the update?

    Thanks.

Yea, i have an iPad mini 3 and I just did the update 5 min. ago and I just restarted my device and still crashing!!

  • Thanks folks. For anyone who has a recent backup or is syncing their data could you please try reinstalling the app? This will delete any 1Password data that exists only on the device, which is why I only recommend attempting this step if you have another copy of your data elsewhere.

  • Good afternoon, @JasonFlox, @tac, and @BenBr3030. I'm terribly sorry for the crash you're seeing with 1Password 6.1. Were any of you running the 1Password 6.1 beta previously, or did you upgrade from version 6.0.2? Also, have any of you added a 1Password for Teams account to 1Password for iOS yet?

All I did was upgrade. To latest version. If I thought there would be a problem I wouldn't have up graded. No I've not set up team.

  • Thanks @BenBr3030. That video is a link to the file on your local computer, but no worries, I believe that it's happening. Could you sync your iPad to your Mac and then get the crash logs as per these instructions? http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/07/get-crash-reports-logs-from-iphone-ipad/

Once you've got the most recent crash logs, please send them along to me at mrrooni@agilebits.com. Thanks!

@MrRooni I sent the zip file to you.

  • Good news, everyone - this appears to be a broken build from the App Store. The fix here is actually quite simple, just wait until 1Password 6.1 shows up in the updates list on your device and then manually update it from there. You should not have to delete and reinstall 1Password to do this.

One of our internal folks here ran into the exact same issue and that turned out to be the fix. Please let me know if you run into any trouble from here on out, we're happy to help!

  • @BenBr3030 : thanks for the crash logs, they were super helpful in figuring out the problem!

@MrRooni : Thanks for finding out the problem.
Do you know how long can be the waiting?
1Password app is absolutely essential to recover all the passwords I need.

  • @JasonFlox It's difficult to say, and it unfortunately out of our hands at this point. You'll just have to keep an eye on your Updates list in the App Store app on your iOS device. Once 1Password shows up there, you should be good to go.

    Hi @JasonFlox,

The fresh 6.1 update appeared on my devices about 45 minutes ago. Hopefully you won't have to wait much longer for it to show up there!

@sjk I am living in France and I don't know if updates are uploaded at the same time in all App Stores (American and French).

I've been using 1password for several months now with no problems. However, I just updated 1password with version 6.1 for iPhone 6 and now the app crashes on startup. Unfortunately, I do not have a back for data so that I might remove and reload the app, so it seems I've lost everything. Suggest you add a note of caution before loading app to be sure to keep a current backup.

  • If you open the App listing in the App Store do you see an "open" button, or an "update" button?

It was the update to 6.1 this morning that is causing the app to crash on my iPad, how do I tell when the new version on 6.1 is available. Surely it should have been called 6.1.1

All good now. Had to delete the app and reinstall and then re-establish the link to Dropbox.
A lesson learnt is never to update, if you are overseas and need the app.
I will be a bit tardy in updating in the future.
I feel sorry for the people who don't have a synced copy in the cloud

@nail23: I'm sorry to hear that the app is crashing for you. I've split you off into an existing thread about this issue.

Always have a backup. After all, that's why we have this feature in 1Password in the first place! But even if you don't, just sit tight. Apparently it was an issue with the App Store download, and you should be able to update to a working version shortly.
