Password Manager and Secure Wallet is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store
Hi.
I'm having problems licensing 1Password on my second machine (hereinafter referred to as "MN2").
Prior to yesterday 1Password had been working OK on MN2 but, while trying to figure out how 1Password worked with Quicksilver, I uninstalled it. I could've sworn previously all I needed to do was point a new install towards "1Password.opvault" in my Dropbox folder and it found info in there telling it it was licensed, but it didn't work this time so now when I click on "1Password > License", rather than getting the lovely badge I used to get saying "Purchased from Mac App Store" (and which I still get on machine no.1 (MN1)), it now says "Trial Mode: 30 Days Remaining".
Here's a few things I've tried which haven’t solved the problem:
- Restarted MN2.
- Deleted the installed version of 1Password on MN2 with AppDelete, restarted the machine (again), gone into App Store, found 1Password, clicked install only to find the legend "!Password is already installed and was not purchased from the Mac App Store" awaiting me. (This is even tho I've def. deleted it for sure and even tho MN1 tells me it was bought on the App Store (when I go into "1Password > License"))
- Logged out of the Mac App Store, restarted MN2 and logged back in again (I only have one Apple account so must be logged into the same one on both machines).
- Used both Spotlight and Easyfind to search for and delete any 1Password files / folders on MN2 which Appdelete missed using both "agile" firstly and "1Password" secondly as the search quotient, and MN2's HD as the arena to carry out the search in. Then I restarted my machine, went back into the Mac App Store, clicked "Install" on 1Password and again the legend mentioned in the title and point 2 above was returned.
- Made sure all external drives are disconnected.
- Made sure it's syncing with the "1Password.opvault" properly.
- Used Appdelete on MN1 to archive all the preference files, Application Support folder etc. (i.e. the machine it's working properly on) which I then sent over to MN2 and installed them there with Appdelete (again, after deleting all remaining 1Password gubbins's and restarting) - with the same result, it was unlicensed.
- Tried booting into the guest account on MN1, opened up a new version of 1Password there, pointed it towards my "1Password.opvault" and again, it remained unlicensed (hence ruling out that it might be related to the beta version of El Capitan I have installed on MN2.)
As mentioned above I'm using Version 6.2.BETA-5 (620005) of 1Password 6 on both machines (and obviously can't install the non beta version of 1Password to test if its a quirk with the beta as the Mac App Store won't let me install Even if I delete 1Password beta and restart.
MN1 is a late 2010 11" MBA rocking 10.11.3 and MN2 an early 2015 13" MBA on the latest 10.11.4 public beta (like I say tho, I've eliminated he possibility of it being the public beta of OS X that's wreaking havoc!)
Any further suggestions of things I can try gratefully received anyway as I'm at a loss as to what to try going forward.
Thanks.

Greetings @GuyM,
It seems you're somewhat caught between a rock and a hard place right now. The AgileBits Store version of 1Password will look and use a receipt for the Mac App Store version of 1Password for Mac but for the receipt to be present on your system you must download and launch 1Password for Mac (Mac App Store) to do so. When I refer to the AgileBits Store version this covers all beta versions, basically any copy you can download from our AgileBits Download page.
To resolve the issue you're facing here we need to figure out what the problem with the Mac App Store is. Once we resolve this we resolve the issue.
When you say you go into the App Store application and you find 1Password how do you do so? Are you switching to the Purchased tab and finding 1Password there or are you searching the store? If you see it in the Purchased tab does it say open or download in the button opposite the entry?
It's too early to say but it may end up that you need to contact Apple Support as anything related to your Apple account can only be properly handled by them. We can assist as much as we can but it is possible we will reach a point where somebody that can see your account is needed.
We'll see what the answer to the question I asked above is and take it from there.

Hi - sorry for the slow reply, I was away for the weekend.
You asked...
When you say you go into the App Store application and you find 1Password how do you do so?
I reply that I was going into the App Store and searching for 1Password but have now tried installing it from my Purchased list too with the same result.
However, over the weekend I found Quicksilver (which I use to launch software) was finding a copy of 1Password at:
/Volumes/Old_External_Drive/Old_Time_Machine_Backup/HD/Applications/1Password
...which is weird as neither Easyfind or Spotlight could find it!
So I deleted it (still have no idea where it came from - "Old_External_Drive" hadn't been attached to my MBA for ages!), restarted my MBA, went into MAS, searched for 1Password, tried to install & got the same message telling me 1Password was installed and asking if I wanted to purchase again.
Nuts.
Then, though, I went into the Purchased tab and lo! and behold it actually installed!
"Problem solved!" I thought, "Huzzah!"
However, when I clicked "Open" the message "connecting to 1Password Mini" appeared for 10 secs or so before it splashed:
"1Password failed to connect to 1Password mini. Please restart 1Password. If this does not help, please contact AgileBits support."
So that was annoying!
But here's a thing - guess where MAS had installed the new 1Password? That's right...
/Volumes/Old_External_Drive/Old_Time_Machine_Backup/HD/Applications
Doh! Doh! And Doh! again!
So I tried installing a random item of software from the Purchased tab of MAS to see if the problem was isolated to 1Password or not. Sure enough it installed it in my Applications folder as expected.
Next up, I copied "weirdly located version of 1Password" to my Applications folder and attempted to open it.
This gave me this message:
The system launched an incorrect version of 1Password mini.
Instead of '/Applications/1Password.app/Contents/LoginItems' it started 'Weirdly located version of 1Password.app/Contents/Library/LoginItems'.
So it was clear what I needed to do next - delete that errant install of 1Password (and all the folders above it, natch) and try to open the copy I'd made into /Applications.
And blow me if it didn't, finally, open OK! Amazing! Problem solved! From my end anyway.
So, I dunno if you need to look into this anyway and maybe report to Apple. I'm guessing I accidentally opened that wrong version of 1Password somewhere down the line and MAS was remembering it.
Anyway, now I can go back to working out how to get Quicksilver and 1Password to work together which was where all this fandango kicked off in the first place! Apparently I need to locate "bookmarks-default.json" in...
~/Library/Application Support/1Password 4/3rd Party Integration/bookmarks-default.json
...which doesn't exist (even though I have "Enable 3rd Party Integration checked in the Advanced tab of 1Password's preferences) as far as I can tell.
I'm guessing this is because I'm on the MAS version of 1Password? I'll try downloading the beta off your website anyway and give that a go.
Ah - yes, that works OK! AND I can now go back to the MAS version of 1Password it seems! Altho will it be updated now I'm back on the MAS version? i.e. is the "bookmarks-default.json" QS's now reading a legacy from the beta 1Password which the MAS version doesn't delete but also doesn't keep up to date?

Hi @GuyM,
I'm glad you got it sorted out. Though you can stay on the beta if you like, there's no actual need to return to the Mac App Store version, once the license has been validated. If you open the beta and go to the licensing window, and it says it's licensed, then you should be ok.
Note that the Mac App Store version stores its data in a different location:
~/Library/Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper/Data/Library/DataAlso, make sure you have version 1.3.2 of the QuickSilver 1Password plugin so it can find the correct location.
Cheers,

Thanks!
I think the 1Password plugin's recently been updated though, it's on v3.0 now!

You're right! I was quoting the wrong version number.
