I have my account (license) key but it won't work to login to my account
Hi. I have a family account and have had it since 1Password 4 for Mac. At the time I received what was called a license key. It doesn't work as an account key when I am trying to login now. The app is working perfectly on my Mac and my iPhone, but I want to add a vault and cannot do it from my desktop app. I would also like to be able to login online. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. MaryJo

Hi @mdgraphics,
Sorry for the confusion. In the last six months or so we introduced a new service here at AgileBits and it has two varieties, 1Password for Teams and 1Password Families. Both are/will be a subscription service where we act as the central point for your data and the subscription service also provides access to 1Password on all supported platforms.
Prior to this there wasn't such a concept as having an account with us. What people could do was purchase a licence to run 1Password on a particular platform e.g. Mac and if you purchased from us what you got was a licence that deactivated the trial mode in the application. 1Password 3 for Mac used a licence key, 1Password 4-6 use a licence file. The licence is just about informing the copy of the application that you're licensed and the trial mode should be deactivated.
The account key is specific to a Teams or Families account and is separate from your licence. The account key is generated when you create your account with us but again, it's specific to a Teams or Families account.
So the first thing we need to determine is are you wanting to try out our 1Password Families or are you content with using 1Password as a standalone application which you already have a licence for? This will determine how we proceed forward. If you want to use 1Password as a standalone application you're quite entitled to do so but there isn't the ability to view your vault online like there is with Teams or Families. The following page may help clarify the differences: Find the 1Password that's right for you.
Once we know which direction you would like to go in we can address any questions you have with more directed answers
