1Password mishandling Verizon Wireless "Mobile Number or User ID" field

Options

My Verizon login page located here:

https://www.verizonwireless.com/my-verizon/

1Password does not store or fill in the "Mobile Number or User ID" field data correctly.

To start, I entered my User ID and password into the fields. Then I saved the login in 1Password. I tried doing this twice (at different times)

Then I brought up an "empty" Verizon login page, and tried filling it in with information stored in 1Password.

Using the first saved login, 1Password entered the word "Español" into the "Mobile Number or User ID" field.

Using the second saved login, 1Password entered the word " Contact Us" into the "Mobile Number or User ID" field.

(See attached screenshots.)

I see neither of these in the 1Password form details.

This issue affects 1Password Mac 7 and 6, and occurs in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

1Password Version: 7.0.7
Extension Version: 4.71 Safari, 4.7.2.90 Chrome Firefox
OS Version: macOS 10.12.6
Sync Type: iCloud

@billj: It sounds like you've saved your login on another page entirely, or when it was very different then. I didn't have any trouble saving and filling a login there with 1Password. In many cases manually saving a new login for the site will allow 1Password to save additional information from the form to fill better. Just try these steps to save the login manually:

    1. Navigate to the website
    2. Enter your login credentials
    3. Click the 'keyhole' icon to bring up the extension
    4. Click the 'gear' icon for Settings
    5. Click Save New Login
    6. Give it a name and Save
    7. Close the webpage and select your new login from the extension to have 1Password Go & Fill
    8. Submit the form manually if you have autosubmit disabled

I hope this helps. Let me know how it turns out!

@brenty: Hmm. I did not save my login on another page. Also, for what it's worth, I always save my logins manually. In fact, I just tried saving login manually--twice. This time, I used Firefox, cleared history/caches before going to the MyVerizon login page, entered username and password, saved as a new login using the "gear" icon, cleared history/caches, went to MyVerizon login page, used 1Password browser extension to manually submit in the information, and... fail. Tried it from scratch a second time... fail. Then I clicked on the URL in 1Password app, which directed Chrome to the MyVerizon login page and auto-populated the fields, and... fail.

And yet, you did not experience this.

What am I doing differently than you? I can't figure out what that is. But the problem is quite real--and reproducible--for me, and has been going on since last fall.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi @billj

I just tested this an it is working as expected for me as well... Please try manually saving a new login on this page:

    https://login.verizonwireless.com/amserver/UI/Login?userNameOnly=false&mode=i&realm=vzw&customerType=DO

And then try filling that login there (refresh the page to clear your entries). Does that work?

Yes, saving the login on the indicated page works. Thanks!

What doesn't work is saving/populating a login on this page:

    https://www.verizonwireless.com/my-verizon/

What's even more interesting: when I go to https://www.verizonwireless.com/my-verizon/ and save a login, the 1Password Item includes two URLs (in this order):

    https://www.verizonwireless.com/my-verizon/

    https://login.verizonwireless.com/amserver/UI/Login?userNameOnly=false&mode=i&realm=vzw&customerType=DO

The second URL being the URL you directed me to.

So... if I saved the login while on https://www.verizonwireless.com/my-verizon/, how did 1Password "know" about the second U
(Because, I'm guessing, it is in the source code for "div class="wcmscolumnWrapper." But what's it doing there?)

And why did the first URL munge the username and password recorded in 1Password?

    @billj: Glad that helped!

This I don't understand though, because my original reply to you was based on saving and filling a new login there, since that's the URL you provided. I don't have any trouble with this.
Can you tell me what specifically "doesn't work" for you? What are the exact steps you're taking, and where are you running into trouble?

That's exactly it. That page is composed of elements from both those URLs. I couldn't tell you why though. You'd have to ask Verizon.

And why did the first URL munge the username and password recorded in 1Password?

I'm not sure what you're asking here. Can you clarify?
