3 years ago1password 8 is a step back
Was prompted to upgrade today. Like the Mac app, this has got worse.
My chief frustration has added steps in. Auto fill on websites require the pop up then the click to confirm, whereas 7 dropped the details right in.
In the app, you have to click more to get to the separate elements like passports etc from categories, and search is in a different screen - requiring more steps.
The UX team need to be shaken a bit on this, come on guys.

Hi @noirsette:
What may help in this situation is pinning your one-time password for your VPN, so it's always available from the home screen of 1Password 8. Open your VPN Login item, then long press your one-time password. Choose Pin to Home. Now it will always be available from the home screen to tap and copy.
Additionally, as I mentioned earlier, we're making some improvements to search (specifically substring search) that would enable you to search for "vpn" and find matching results.

I just can't use this new version. Too many workflows are obliterated - search is seemingly hard locked to searching from the beginning of a word, so grabbing my otp for one of the vpn connections i use for work now requires me to remember the whole name instead of just 'vpn'.
Accessing that otp is no longer 1 click, typing, and copying the code, it's clicking, typing the first letters of the name, opening an entirely new screen, copying the code when it eventually tells me how much time is left (why does this take 5 seconds to render?!) and then putting it where I need it.Adding more steps to achieve things makes something worse, not better.

I am considering leaving 1PassWord myself, very disappointed in v8.

Jack, with all due respect, I've been a subscriber from day one (outright purchaser long before that) for the functionality not the "modern, beautiful UI", functionality that I now consider broken. I've deleted v8, v7 and closed the account too, it's taken me all day to do it but it's now very much time for me to embrace Keychain once more.

Exactly is the long step forward but they got rid of way too many useful things (aka features). Now they are returning them.

Hi @davidmh81:
1Password for Safari is our fully featured extension that you can now use in Safari, which may be easier to use when changing passwords.

It's inefficient to not have the built-in browser. Some people, especially those who work for the government, such as myself, need to change passwords frequently. It's a lot more efficient to work with the built-in web browser to change passwords rather than switching between 1Password and a separate browser. Is there some new efficient way to change passwords within another mobile web browser?

Hey folks, thanks for your feedback.
@davidmh81:
We built 1Browser at a time when Safari extensions weren’t possible and it was the only way for 1Password to fill passwords. Now, iOS has an AutoFill Passwords feature and we have a new 1Password extension for Safari, making this the right time to retire 1Browser. This also means that 1Password 8 will not be rated 17+, a requirement that only existed because of 1Browser. Unless the landscape shifts significantly, adding 1Browser back doesn't make sense at this time.
@tnetennba:
Since most mobile devices now include fingerprint scanners or face-unlock options, we’ve revamped our security settings to enable you to unlock 1Password with your account password or biometrics. 1Password 8 showcases a modern, beautiful UI, and we wanted our unlock options to follow this trend and provide the most up-to-date unlock options. As for the ordering of Favorites on the home screen, while I can't promise anything, this is something we've heard, and hopefully we'll be able to make some improvements to this.
@quantumcosmic:
If 1Password 8 is enabled as the AutoFill app in iOS Settings > Passwords, you should be able to tap the Passwords text or have Logins suggested in the QuickType bar. If that isn't what you're seeing, we can definitely take a closer look.
@zemo:
We're continuing to iterate on search, more specifically substring search. We've made some changes available in 1Password 8 for desktop in the nightly releases, but those chances aren't in 1Password 8 for iOS and Android just yet.
@MattKb:
Are you referring to 1Password filling suggestions not showing immediately in the QuickType bar, and instead displaying "Passwords"?

Another gripe that I have is they don't have an integrated web browser in the new app. I'm probably going to continue using 1Password 7 either until they give this feature back to us or they stop supporting the old one. This is a real step back for them, very disappointed.

I also appreciated and utilized 1Password daily and even gifted it to several friends and family members, now I am sorry I did and will warn each NOT to upgrade to v8. It is terrible! Much of the functionality I used is gone, especially the ability of a workaround to "find" keywords within in each LogIn and/or Note. Maybe it is time to look elsewhere for a solution if the team at 1Password thinks this is an improvement, because it is not!
