Auto-lock, under Preferences > Security, is unticked - yet I find I'm having to put my master password in a lot. It's a key security app (and brilliant by the way - long time user), however on my sec...

3 years agoOk folks. After a bit of observation: The password is required after the computer goes to sleep for a while. I tried a manual sleep for 5-10 mins but it didn't lock. If I leave the computer for an hour or so with or without locking the screen i.e. manual lock vs auto-lock the password is required. When the password is required it doesn't matter where I attempt to use 1Password. Tested across 3 browsers and the app itself. When it's locked the 1Password icon remains in the menubar with a little lock added to it.
At this juncture I haven't determined what specific amount of sleep is required to trigger the lock. What I'll do is set an alarm starting at 20 mins and progress up or down from there.
On my Intel MacBook Pro I wasn't happy with the elapsed sleep time before it swapped from fingerprint to password login (to the OS). If I remember correctly is normally about 3 days but I use the MacBook less frequently than the Mini so it was usually 5-6 days between uses. Google search led me to an article somewhere that discussed MacOS' differing levels of "sleep" and what happens at each level. Turning off WiFi etc. Unfortunately, I didn't have any success with the biometric issue but I did learn a bit about MacOS' sleep mode including the fact that it can be tweaked at the command line level. I wonder if something like this is at play here?
Next steps for me are to determine how much "sleep" is required to trigger the lock and if there is a difference between manual and auto sleep.
