1Password for Safari not communicating with the desktop app [FIXED]
Both the extension and the app are updated and at current versions.
Have tried various combinations of quitting browser + app, and toggling / untoggling the "Integrate this extension with the 1Password desktop app" and "Connect with 1Password in the browser" settings in the extension / app, respectively.
Have toggled on and off the "Allow in the background" setting in System Settings->General
Still getting "Status: Problems connecting 🟠. Please make sure the 1Password app is unlocked." 100% of the time when using the extension, and no option for TouchID
BEYOND frustrated at this point. I just want to use TouchID on my browser extension!
1Password Version: 8.10.40
Extension Version: 2.27.1
OS Version: 14.6.1
Browser: Safari

kevin_li yes, I can confirm Touch ID still works as expected with the main 1password app. If I understand you correctly, the extension is actually using the main app for its unlock functionality so because the extension and app are not connected because of the bug, the touch ID functionality is likewise effected.

+1 - this started happening for me a few days ago. Made sure I was up to date for desktop and safari apps, safari/MacOS is up to date, and I restarted both Safari and the entire Mac, and it still happens. Works fine in the desktop app, just not in Safari - there, I have to re-enter password

I rebooted my Macbook Pro and now I have the same problem on both Macs which are both running identical OS and 1P versions.

I've made no changes to 1Password, Safari, or IOS. I no longer have the option to use it; I'm always prompted to enter my 1Password password. I have gone into System Settings and entered and enabled Touch ID. I redid my finger print and also made sure all touch IDs are turned on. Releases are:
- MAC OS; 13.2 (Ventura)
- Safari: 16.3
- 1Password: 8.10.40Thanks, Bob

Hi kevin_li
I also have the same issue. I can use TouchID in the 1Password app, but the connection issue in safari means that it is useless in that browser. Sounds like a patch is being worked on. Any idea of the sort of timeframe we are looking at for a fix? Thanks - Pato77New Contributor
Yes, for me it's exactly the same.
Reinstalled the extension, restarted the desktop app, and Safari, restarted my Mac...nothing works.

May I confirm if you can still use Touch ID to unlock the 1Password 8 desktop app? If so, the Touch ID feature is working as expected.
Since the Touch ID feature is from the 1Password desktop app, due to the connection issue I mentioned above, we cannot utilize Touch ID to unlock 1Password for Safari currently. I'm sorry about the inconvenience and confusion it caused.

The Touch ID misbehavior seems to be another issue from the 1Password desktop app. Therefore, I'd like to ask you to send in some diagnostics to our support so we can take a closer look at things:
