Feature request: Disable password autofill when passkey present

I would like to request that when a site has a passkey, the password not automatically be sent. The best example is Amazon: The site has the Password prompt and "Sign in with Passkey" button on the same page. At this point. 1Password has already sent the password to the site, which is not what I want.

I recognize that the real issue here is the site, where boneheaded site designers have not embraced a "passkey first" philosophy.

  • Hello cobaltjacket! 👋

Thanks for reaching out! 1Password will never fill your login credentials without your explicit permission, you'll first need to click on the login suggestion in a username or password field or press the required keyboard shortcut to fill your login.

It sounds like you're choosing to fill your username on the first page of Amazon's login process and then the passkey request from Amazon is coming on the second page, is that correct? If it is then 1Password is filling your login credentials into the website's login form as requested by you and submitting them automatically before Amazon sends the passkey request. If you'd like to avoid that then you can turn off auto-submit for Amazon:

    1. Click on the 1Password icon in your browser's toolbar.
    2. Click on your login item for Amazon.
    3. Click the three dots in the upper right corner of the item and then click Don't sign in automatically

That being said, I can see how this login flow could be improved and I've passed your feedback and suggestion along to the team internally. They'll look into this for future versions of 1Password.
