Linked apps mystery
In Quick Access, pressing Return or clicking Open & Fill for a couple of different logins suddenly did not work.

OK -- I now see that I must have clicked Fill & Update Login in an alert saying, "Would you like to link your "Mac Login" item in 1Password with your macOS user account login," as explained in the "Get help" section here: https://support.1password.com/mac-universal-autofill/#fill-in-apps-and-browsers
So now my questions are, why did I get that alert and what is the advantage of creating a link?
The documentation at the link above says, "You can then autofill your details every time you log in to the same app or website," but that wasn't my experience.
