PRF support
Hello I would like to request an update on PRF support for passkeys stored in 1Password. When will support be launched on all platforms including iOS?
As both a user of 1Password and web developer looking to build an e2ee app, I would like to use Prf. Apple passwords, and google password manager both support Prf. Iām surprised 1Password does not despite announcements saying otherwise.
Support was announced here in July 2024: https://blog.1password.com/encrypt-data-saved-passkeys/
And discussed here Storing of Passkeys with PRF in 1Password - not currently possible | 1Password Community
demo to verify support can be found here https://levischuck.com/blog/2023-02-prf-webauthn
Thanks
Hello Stewartbracken! š
Thanks for reaching out! We're currently testing the PRF extension for the passkey standard in the beta versions of 1Password in the browser, 1Password for iOS, and 1Password for Android. You can find instructions on how to download the beta version here:
I don't have an ETA on when support for the PRF extension will make it into the stable version but I'll let the team know that you're eager to see it be fully released.I've tested the demo site that you linked to and it looks like the passkey isn't being saved properly when using the latest beta version of 1Password in the browser. I've filed an issue to have our development team investigate this further and hopefully get this fixed.
If you do decide to test PRF extension support by downloading the beta version of 1Password and run into issues on other websites then please let me know.
