Safari Extension Started Asking For Password For Every Auto Fill [SOLVED]

.
I've been using 1P8 for some time without any auto fill issues. All of a sudden today, the iOS Safari Extension started wanting me to manually enter my password for an auto fill anytime Safari was closed and re-opened. I've always had the "Authorize After" Safari Extension setting set to "1 Week".
I tried disabling the Safari Extension, rebooting the phone and reenabling the Safari Extension. I then tried disabling auto fill on both 1P8 and iOS settings, rebooting the phone and then reenabling. Neither of which worked. I ended up having to completely uninstall and reinstall of 1P8, which was annoying, and that worked.
Is there anything else that can be done if this happens again? Is this a known issue?

"Downgrading to 1P7 isn't a solution, it's a workaround and 1P has stated they are ditching the Safari Extension due to iOS Security garbage."
Orlandoech I agree 1P7 isn't a long-term solution (although it has solved my issues of late) since I suspect AB will no longer support it and it may not work at some point in the future, depending on iOS-specific changes. That said, where have you heard that the safari extension is going away? That seems like pretty necessary functionality for any password manager. Please advise.

iOS 16.1 is out so hopefully a fix is on the way.

@orlandoech where do they say they are ditching the Safari extension?

My Subscription ends in beginning of Jan 2023 and Ive already moved over toe LastPass as it functions nearly identically and has an iOS Safari Extension that works just as well as 1Pv7.

This issue and its related issues, along with the general low quality of 1P8 software across all platforms I have tested it on has me jumping ship after being a customer and advocate since 2007. “The straw that broke the camel’s back” perhaps.

@skiver 1PW 7 seems to be the solution for most everything. I’ve stuck with it because first, it has no issues, and second, I’ve not seen any feature or function offered in 8 that I don’t have in 7. I could be wrong about that but in all the discussions here and on other platforms I’ve not read of anything I’m missing. And as usual if it ain’t broke why fix it? I’m definitely a supporter of 1PW and will continue my subscription for the foreseeable future but I like to keep it simple when possible and 7 seems to be the way to go.

I’ve used 1Password almost from the very beginning and i’m a big fan. Having given 1P8 a good trial I have to say that i’m not at all keen on the new layout and, coupled with the incredibly irritating Safari extension problem, I took the advice of others and downgraded to 1P7. Ahhhh… bliss! Works perfectly and great layout.

Everyone,
You’re not going to get a speedy resolution or one you even want when they do fix. Cancel your subscription and move on. You keep financially supporting their incompetence.

Had there been any progress on this?
The extension asks for the password every single time and it no longer accepts Face ID when unlocking. I’m still on iOS 15 so this is something 1P has done and not something Apple ID responsible for. - AMonitorDarklyOccasional Contributor
Jack_P_1P Respectfully, we’ve been hearing that for well over a month. What’s going on? At a bare minimum, the devs should have been able to push a quick fix for whatever was changed in the last release that caused the 1 Week setting workaround to break.
