Secure Notes missing line breaks when markdown is turned off in 1Password for Windows
Without changing any setting all my SECURE NOTES displayed on my desktop are condensed. ALL squeezed together & Window note area reduced.
On my phone the display is perfect but NOT on my desktop.
Can you please help ?

The reason is because we have one secure note for an entire site. We do work as a managed services provider for solar and wind generation sites. There are hundreds of devices between firewalls, switches, servers, and other substation OT equipment, and it's easier to have it all in a secure note. Also, there are descriptions and notes on how to connect to the various devices and information about things to be aware of, such as some devices need to be restarted in a certain order, services on servers that need to be running after Windows Updates, etc. There isn't really a good fit to have each device with it's own custom field. We may consider custom fields at some point, but each site has it's own idiosyncrasies and the secure note with it's free form capability works well for us at the moment.

Thank you for the report and I'm sorry for the inconvenience. We're currently testing a fix for the issue in the latest nightly version of 1Password. If testing goes well there then the fix will be added to the beta and then the stable version as soon as possible.
We do not use Markdown because there are cases where a password in a secure note uses multiple *. As an example, if you have password123456, it will be presented as password123456, with 123 in italics...which doesn't work.
The Secure Note item (and field) isn't really designed for passwords, is there a reason why you don't save those passwords in a password field by adding a custom field to the item in question? You can read more about custom fields here: Customize your 1Password items

Oh, looks like the comment section uses markdown, heh, the first was password (asterisk) 123 (asterisk) 456

I and everyone in my organization (currently about 70 people) are also having the same issue with no line breaks and white space (tabs) when Markdown is not selected. White space is also not shown with Markdown checked, so it is breaking a lot of the standard formatting we are using for secure notes. The version is 8.10.50...I also tried the beta 8.10.52-22, and the same problem persists.

Thanks for fixing the purple highlight in the secure notes.
(https://1password.community/discussion/146485/no-purple-highlight-for-searched-text-in-secure-notes-with-markdown-disabled)However, now I can see 2 (probably new) major problems with markdown disabled.
(uncheck "General -> Format secure notes using markdown")- New line is not preserved in normal mode, everything appear in a single line.
- Cannot select and copy text in normal mode.
In edit mode, these problems does not appear, please see the attached GIF.

I'm happy that the workaround helps for now.
I've corrected "Mac" to "Windows" in my post above. Our developers are aware that this is an issue in the latest update to 1Password for Windows and are working on a fix. For now, I suggest using one of the workarounds in my previous comment. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.

Hello Lexxx and PsychoDeli! 👋
I'm sorry that notes aren't being rendered properly in the latest version of the 1Password for Windows desktop app. I've been able to reproduce the issue using my own device when markdown formatting is turned off and I've filed an internal work item with our development team so that they can get this fixed.
For the time being the two best workarounds are:
- Temporarily, turn on markdown formatting in the desktop app: 1Password > click your account or collection at the top of the sidebar > Settings > General > Turn on "Format Secure Notes using Markdown".
- If you have items that don't play well with markdown then, for now, you can use the 1Password.com web app to view those items. The web app doesn't currently support markdown formatting and is not affected by the issue. You can access the web app by logging in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app).
