Touch ID cannot be enabled, macOS 14.7.1, 1Password 8.10.54

Hello,

I'm using 1Password 8.10.54 on a Mac Mini with a Magic Keyboard with TouchID (lightning connector) under macOS 14.7.1.

TouchID works at the macOS level, letting me unlock my screen. However going to 1Password - Settings - Security, the Touch ID option is greyed out and cannot be enabled.

Help on enabling it would be appreciated.

Thanks
-Tom

    Hello @StoicTom! 👋

I'm sorry that Touch ID isn't working with 1Password on your Mac Mini. Did Touch ID work with 1Password on the Mac Mini before? Or has Touch ID never worked on that specific Mac? As a first step try this:

    1. Completely turn off your Mac and then turn it on to restart it. (Don't skip this step.)
    2. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac.
    3. Choose Apple menu  > System Settings, then click Touch ID & Password.
    4. Turn off all of the features, then turn all of them back on again.
    5. Go back to 1Password and choose 1Password > Settings from the menu bar.
    6. Click the Security icon, then turn on "Touch ID".
    7. Lock 1Password by choosing 1Password > Lock from the menu bar.
    8. Now try unlocking 1Password using Touch ID.

Let me know if that doesn't work.

    Hello Dave,

I followed your steps above, but when I got to step 6, Touch ID is still greyed out and does not allow me to turn it on.

Touch ID hasn't worked with 1Password on this Mac before. I only recently got the keyboard with Touch ID so was looking to set it up. Touch ID does work in all other parts of macOS so far after having the keyboard for about 2 weeks. I've also ensured no other keyboard is paired to this machine.

I'm sorry that those steps didn't help. I'd like to ask you to create a diagnostics report from your Mac:

Attach the diagnostics to an email message addressed to support+forum@1password.com.
