trying to Import 1PASSWORD Ver 3 data to new Ver 5 via iPhone 4S
- I have the iOS (8.1.1) Apps for Ver 3 and Ver 5 on my iPhone 4S.
- On my MacBook Air, I have the Mac App 1PASSWORD 5.0.2 installed.
- I also have DropBox installed on my iPhone 4S and MacBook Air.
- I have not been able to find 1PASSWORD Ver 4 on the iOS App Store.
I have been unsuccessful in importing my 1PASSWORD Ver 3 data to 1PASSWORD Ver 5. I have tried using a WiFi synch, and I tried using the DropBox synch. Please provide guidance. Thanks. (My email address is braceb@yahoo.com).
Is there a Customer Service phone number I can call for hands-on-assistance, if online assistance does not solve my import issues?

Hi @BraceB,
Thanks for taking the time to write to us and for giving us all these details. It really helps :+1:
I have not been able to find 1PASSWORD Ver 4 on the iOS App Store.
If you have iOS 8.1.1 on you iPhone, you can only find 1Password 5 for iOS. 1Password 4 for iOS will show up on devices using iOS 7.
Dropbox sync does not work in 1Password 3 for iOS and Wi-Fi sync only works with 1Password 3 for Mac. So here's what we need to do:
- Download 1Password 3 for Mac from the bottom of our downloads page on website or from this direct download link
- Setup Wi-Fi sync between 1Password 3 for iOS and 1Password 3 for Mac.
- After a successful Wi-Fi sync, your 1Password 3 data on your Mac will be up-to-date.
Assuming that you've never launched 1Password 5 for Mac on your MacBook Air, you can now launch it and it will detect your data from 1Password 3 for Mac, simply enter your Master Password and voila.
Once you got your data into 1Password 5 for Mac, you can opt for whichever sync solution you prefer between 1Password 5 for Mac on your MacBook Air and 1Password 5 for iOS on your iPhone 4S.
Hope that this helps
Cheers!

Sorry for the late response. After many futile attempts, I was finally SUCCESSFUL today in synching my iPhone 4S (1Password VER 3.7.2 PRO) with my MacBook Air (1Password VER 3.8.22). Whew !!!
I tried LAUNCHING 1Password 5 on my MacBook Air, from my Downloads Folder. However, I got the following message: "The alias '1Password 5' can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." I was given three (3) options: " [1] Delete Alias [2] Fix Alias [3] OK " Now, I'm at a lost on how to LAUNCH 1 Password 5.
Please advise how I need to proceed, to take advantage of using MAC 1Password VER 5. QUESTION: Is the iPhone 1Password VER 5 a free upgrade?
Thank you so much for your patience and assistance.

Hi @BraceB,
An alias in computer terms is a very small file which simply points to another location. I don't know quite what has happen in this case but you have a file that used to point to a copy of 1Password 5. The easiest way forward is to delete the alias and download a fresh copy of 1Password 5 unless of course you moved 1Password 5 to your Applications folder?
As to 1Password 5 for iOS. Version 4 was an app you had to purchase but when we released version 5 we decided to experiment with the freemium model. Now unlike games where the use of said model seems to be about gouging people for as much as they're worth, we offer some of the basic functionality of 1Password for iOS permanently for free. If you decide you like the iOS version of 1Password and you want the extra features then you would make a single in-app purchase that would apply to as many iOS devices as you have attached to the purchasing Apple ID.
Please do let us know if you have any further questions
