Password copy function not working
I apologize in advance if this topic has been solved.
I use Yosemite and I am not able to copy the password from 1Password into a few sites like Ebay. It is as if
the copy function is not working. The copy function works with the majority of other sites. I got the password generator
to work and paste the password generated into the field but not into the 1Password program file.
I have both 1Password mini and the Safari extension installed

I typically generate a password inside the 1Password program and the copy paste the password generated into the webpage I want to access. In this way I am sure that I have a copy of the password. This works fine in the vast majority of programs but when I attempt this updating my password on
i.e. the Ebay website the paste function is inactive.0 -
Hi @pelguse
Some websites can use JavaScript to disable pasting in the misguided belief it helps with security. Now oddly eBay.co.uk allows me to paste in both a password for logging in and for changing a password but I'm sure I've come across sites that disable it and cause me to perform a tirade of abuse while I painstakingly enter this long and awful password.
Something worth trying on sites like these is if the 1Password Password Generator can fill in the password for you as my understanding is it doesn't use the clipboard meaning it may work in situations where paste doesn't.
To try this on the page in question use either the 1Password browser extension or bring up 1Password mini and if you go to the Password generator you should see this:
I've also brought up the small options menu just to the right of the Fill button so you can see the options available and that the Copy to Clipboard Before Filling should be enabled by default. When you click Fill it should create a Password item in 1Password, copy the password to the clipboard and attempt to fill it in the fields it believes you need it filled in.
If you then go on to save a new Login using that password the Password item will be removed because you have a Login item. If you don't create a new Login item it will keep the Password item as a backup in case you need it again.
Let us know if that helps at all with some of the problem websites.
