masterpassword change
I decided to make a stronger master password in 1Pv5 - so changed it and it works on the mac I did it on. However the 2 iOS and another mac still just accept the old password. (things sync via iCloud)
- Please tell me what to do - I realise that I should not often change the master password etc - and only planned to do this one time
- Regards mark:)

reading threads - I see it may be a bug - can I just reset the password on the mac I changed it on - back to the original password. Will it allow me to reset it back to the original?

Yes, you can either change the master password on the Mac back to the original or you can manually change the master password on the other devices to match the new one on the Mac.

I read that changing the password will not make it more secure than the original one set- can you ellaborate pls Sreven. I would have thought that if i changed from say 6 digit to 8 that it is more secure?

I think I can do no better than direct you to this AgileBits blog post "Toward Better Master Passwords".
When you read that I think you'll understand why I'm not up to explaining it all here. :)

Thankyou Stephen - I read the full article - which is an eye opener - but did not explain the answer to the question really. I read that changing the password to a current vault does not actually make it more secure - due to the encryption being done initially when the vault was started ...... that is what I could not understand... :)

Right, I tried to avoid initially directing you to this thread because it contains some pretty complex (and, at times, confusing) stuff. However, it's where most of the information currently resides about the question you asked. It needs some fairly careful reading but I hope you find it helpful in the context of your question.

Thank Stephen - I read this and it is helpful - and also shows how complex it all is too. Thank you for your help - Best wishes

Hi @100mark,
I'm very glad the information from @Stephen_C and the other forum discussion was helpful! It's certainly complex, so if you have more questions about all that, please don't hesitate to ask. We're always happy to help! :)
