Getting started
I am getting started with 1password. Both my wife and I have one computer and one iPhone6. We are running the latest system in each. Do I start by purchasing 1password for the mac and then order the one for the iPhone next? I am a University faculty. My wife is not. Do I ask for the faculty price?

Hi @jerryas,
You have a couple of options.
- If iCloud sync is important to you then you'll need to purchase both 1Password for Mac and iOS from Apple's stores. Since the release of Yosemite and iOS 8, access to iCloud related frameworks such as the CloudKit framework for syncing are restricted to applications from Apple's stores. You can share the purchase of 1Password for Mac using Apple's Family Sharing on the assumption that you have your own Apple IDs.
- If you're happy with using either Dropbox or Wi-Fi Sync then you can purchase 1Password for Mac from us. If you use our Help me choose guide it will select the most applicable licence. Given your position this would be slightly more cost effective than Apple's Mac App Store (MAS).
Either way a single licence for Mac will cover you and your wife. 1Password for iOS is a little different thanks to in-app purchases not being shareable using Family Sharing. Now you can both make use of the free version but if you find the Pro features are compelling then it is a single in-app purchase per Apple ID.
As for the order that they're purchased in, it doesn't really matter. Also of note is if you're unsure about 1Password at all we do offer a 30 day trial from our site that will allow you to play with 1Password and see what you think.
If you have any further questions before proceeding do please ask.
