browser extensions not working?

I recently upgraded to 1password 5 (licensed) installed on my Mac from 3. For awhile I was getting error messages that I had the wrong mini app because I had more than one 1password installed. I found the duplicate in my downloads folder from 1password 4 and deleted it. When I install the browser extension in chrome, I get 4.2.5.90 and it appears to work tho the version number doesn't appear to match.

My problem is that when I install it in safari, I get 3.8.9 and it doesn't seem to work. Each time I click on the 1password key in safari, I get a dialog box that says it can't find mini, i get a prompt that mini is starting (tho I have the mini icon at the top of my screen already), mini asks me if I can use it in safari, I say yes, and nothing happens. I say Try Again on the error dialog box and I go through the same sequence again: mini says it is starting and asks if I can use it in Safari.

How do I fix this?

One more thing that I notice... when I download the safari extension, it says 4.2.5 but when I install it in Safari, it says 3.8.9. ????

    Hi @chac3x,

I'm not sure why it would show the extension is version 3.8.9 after you install version 4.2.5. However, you said you click on the 1Password "key" in Safari, so it sounds like you might have an older version of the extension installed (the current extension should look like a circle & keyhole, similar to the app icon). Please try these steps to see if we can get the correct extension installed and working:

    • In Safari go to the menu for Safari > Preferences
    • Select the Extensions tab
    • Delete (or at least disable) any 1Password extension you find there
    • Close Preferences, then open this link in Safari: https://agilebits.com/onepassword/extensions
    • Click the big green Install button and follow any additional steps

After installing the extension, you might need to restart Safari. Does that help, or do you still have the problem? Let us know how it goes, thanks!
