how to open earlier/old passwordfiles when i change my masterpassword?
I want to change my masterpassword and is nervous to mess it all up.
Can i keep a copy of my password fil to access with my current password if something goes wrong ( forget my password , technical issues)?
If i make a copy of my passwordfile for a start ( .1PIF - format) will i be able to import it into a new passordfile and start all over with a new masterpassword?

Hi @vangen,
When 1Password creates backups it's backing up the encrypted .sqlite database file which we use to locally store your vault. I mention this as each backup can only be accessed with the Master Password at that time. So rather than keeping a unencrypted copy of your vault in the forum of a .1pif export hanging around, you may be better by creating a backup right before changing your Master Password and instead relying on that. You can manually create a backup whenever you feel the need by entering 1Password's preferences, switching to the Backup tab and clicking on the Backup Now button.
If you're still concerned though you are correct. Exporting in the .1pif format will allow you to start afresh and import your existing vault into a new vault with a new Master Password. My only reluctance with this approach is you don't want to keep the .1pif export hanging around any longer than you need it because of what it contains.
If you have any more questions do please ask
