Start over with empty vault [converting from Data Guardian]

I am new to 1Password. I am switching over from 'Data Guardian.' I exported data from 'Data Guardian' as a csv file. (Their export function to 1Password did not work). However, when I imported the csv file into 1Password, it's all muddled and it would take ages to fix it up. I have decided to delete the vault and enter everything by hand (sigh). However, the delete procedure of vaults and starting over with an empty vault are for for 1Password4. I have 1Password5. The files to delete, as directed on Agile's Website, in the 'Application Support' folder and 'Preferences' folder are not there. Where are they?

MacOS 10.10.2, 1Password5.3 (MacApp Store).

Thanks,

Klaus

@kblume: I hope you don’t mind, but I am moving your post to the Mac section. I’m sorry to hear you're having trouble 'converting'. I know how much work that can be in some cases! :(

I know one of our moderators is an import expert, so he may be able to chime in with some guidance regarding possible Data Guardian conversion. /cc @MrC

Now, in regard to your question of starting over, we’ve got a brand new knowledgebase with the information you need to start over with 1Password 5 right here.

Be sure to look in the Mac App Store section (thank you for specifying which version you’re using!) It's sounds like you were reading a guide for the AgileBits Store version too. This is the folder you’re looking for:

    2BUA8C4S2C.com.agilebits.onepassword-osx-helper

I hope this helps! Be sure to let me know if you have any other questions! :)

Wow!! Thanks for your quick reply. Thanks for moving my question to where it belongs. Somehow I missed that... I'll get busy following your suggestions.

@kblume: No worries! That's what we have the Knowledgebase Feedback section for, to make sure we're not missing anything important that needs to be improved/fixed/added.

It isn't your fault that we have so many different places to look currently, and I'm happy to point you in the right direction. It's just motivation for us to finish getting everything organized better so it's easier for you (and the rest of our awesome customers) to find going forward. Cheers! :)

DataGuardian does have the ability to create a 1PIF, but its exporting tool is confused, and it intermixes exporting to 1PIF, and the CSV importing for 1Password Mac and CSV importing for 1Password Windows. And it is lossy.

So, let's do this. I should be able to have a full converter for you tomorrow (Sunday, US time), which will convert all your data and records, which you can import into 1Password. Picture data is not exported, so those won't be available.

    Sound good?

    @kblume,

The converter is done and ready to use. I've pushed an update to the 1.04 version in the _testing folder referenced here. Follow the instructions on the first post.

The Data Guardian converter has only been tested on OS X. I'll test on Windows later.

@MrC: Wow, that was fast! :dizzy: :+1:

@kblume: MrC's converter should be a great help, but be sure to share your experience and let us know if you have any questions. :)
