Generate words password in different language

Hi, I'm using 1Password 6.0 on Mac OS 10.11.2 english version.
I'm native french speaker and I'm wondering if there is a way to generate 'words password' in my language using password generator ??
I don't want to switch to a french version of Mac OS of course.

@chpetiot - 1Password uses the default language set in the operating system. There isn't an independent way to change that. I don't know if it would help to do that, though. I think the words for that kind of password come from a list, and I don't know if there is a French list. Someone from AgileBits will surely come along and tell us if there are password lists for languages other than English.

hawkmoth is correct; there's not currently a way to specify language within 1Password. But this is an interesting request, and we can certainly consider it. Would you want to see just the password generator in French, or everything in 1Password?

Using 1Password in English is fine.
The password generator in different languages would be useful.

Hi @chpetiot,

I believe what you're asking for is our diceware list to be available in different languages rather than any part of the interface as currently our diceware is English only.

I've added your vote to an existing feature request to see the diceware list available in more languages. The only thing I'm unsure about is I suspect the developers would want to tie it to the Preferred language as defined in System Preferences > Language & Region but it may be they'd add it as a preference.

Does preference mean, I’d set the language for the generator in the App Settings? Or could it be placed directly into the password generator? So in the same spot I decide what the words should be “separated with”, I can additionally choose what language to use for the password.
Would like to see this feature, too, for I’d like to have my passwords in german, despite having my OS in english.

Since that preference doesn't currently exist in 1Password, I suppose it could mean either one! ;)

The wordlist in the password generator currently only contains English words, so the first step would be to add wordlists in other languages. That's a feature request right now, so I really don't know for sure how switching between wordlist languages would work if/when that request becomes an actual feature. But my guess is that it would work the same way it does for other translations in 1Password (i.e. it would use the default language set in the operating system).

I can certainly let our developers know you'd like to have a preference to change the wordlist language in the password generator itself. I just can't make any promises one way or another about if or when that would happen.
