Modified field labels don't sync

For some 1P item types it's possible to modify the default field labels. For example, in creating a new "Wireless Router" item, I changed the label "wireless network password" to "Wireless Network Key," which is what the PW is the term that my router uses. The changed field label is accepted when I create it, but when I open the item from one of my other devices that is synced with 1P, the default label appears, not my modified label.

  • Hi @gkgriffith! Thanks for posting about this. I'd love to help figure out what's going on. :) You posted this in the Mac forum, and the versions you mentioned coincide with that platform, but what other apps are you currently using and not seeing the section name sync to?

Thanks for your quick reply! I am syncing 1P on the desktop versions on an iMac and MacBook Pro (both running OS X 10.11.3 and 1P 6.1) and an iPhone 6 and an iPad mini (both running latest 1P versions). Any changes I make to field names for a 1P item on any of these devices do not sync with the field names on the other devices, although the rest of the data in the 1P item does sync.

    Greetings @gkgriffith,

You mention that you synchronise via Dropbox. Is it the case that currently you use the Agile Keychain sync container to sync? You can identify it by the file extension .agilekeychain. Now the Agile Keychain format is pretty old, we introduced it in 1Password 3 for Mac where it wasn't just a sync container, it was the vault. The format though doesn't store field titles for default fields, only for custom fields. The problem is due to reasons of compatibility this won't change but the newer OPVault sync container does. I can create a test Wireless Router item and rename all the default fields (with the exception of wireless security) and those changes will sync when the container is an OPVault.

Given all of your devices are running 1Password 6 for Mac and iOS we could help you switch if my hunch turns out to be correct. Is this something you would be interested in?

You are correct, I am using the .agilekeychain and so I would be interested in changing to the OPVault! Please advise. Thanks!

    Greetings @gkgriffith,

So we have a knowledge base page that should help here and it's available at the link Switching to OPVault from Agile Keychain. If you have any troubles or questions before you start please do ask or let us know and we'll work with you until everything is moved over and sync is working everywhere
