Mac App Store version being phased out? [Nope! :) ]
I noticed there's no longer mention of purchasing 1Password through the Mac App Store on the new landing page. With the advent of Teams and Families, are there plans to phase out the MAS version? I ask so that I know if I should start recommending new users download the online store version instead of the MAS app.

@beyondthepassword: That's a great question, and now that you mention it I'm surprised I haven't heard it asked before!
We don't have any plans to get rid of the Mac App Store version of 1Password for Mac. Doing so would mean anyone who purchased 1Password there since 2011 would no longer receive updates. That's a good enough reason for us not to pull it, regardless of anything else, and frankly there's no good reason for us to pull it.
While other developers have run into issues with sandboxing, that hasn't been a problem for us (given the type of app 1Password is), and it isn't something we're worried about either since Apple has been (slowly) moving in the direction of easing some restrictions over the years.
So why aren't we pushing the Mac App Store version of 1Password for Mac anymore? Well, there simply isn't any reason to now, since both versions of 1Password 6 supports iCloud Sync. Since the apps themselves have identical functionality, the only reason for someone to buy the Mac App Store version is personal preference: the AgileBits Store version gets updates faster (no approval process) and can access betas, whereas the Mac App Store version has a simplified update purchase and update process that some people really appreciate.
However, since you mentioned 1Password Families/Teams too, that actually brings up an interesting point that didn't immediately come to mind for me: since a 1Password Families/Teams subscription includes the apps as well, the AgileBits Store version of 1Password for Mac is a better option there since it doesn't require an additional purchase. If you already bought the Mac App Store version, you can use that with 1Password Families/Teams, but I can't imagine anyone would want to pay for the subscription and spend more money on the Mac App Store version.
I hope this answers your questions, but be sure to let me know if I've missed something, or if you have any others! :)

Great, that helps. Thanks for the explanation. I personally feel everyone should just go with a Families account, even as a single user, but it's good to know that there's flexibility.
