Microsoft Edge crash with 1PW extension - temp solution (for me at least)

I've had the same problem as others have had with Edge and 1PW not always playing nicely together. After a bit of hunting I think I've found a workaround for the problem

Go to Windows 10 Settings -> Privacy -> Background Apps and turn OFF Microsoft Edge.

This will prevent Edge from running in the background.

So far this has solved the problem on my machine (tested 20 out of 20 times)

Obviously you need to wait for the Edge processes to die when closing Edge so give it a few seconds before reopening Edge.

It's not the prefect solution but it helps.

    Thanks for sharing this with us. Can you tell me what version of Windows 10 you're using, is it 1803 or 1809?

    Thanks, we'll try to share this tip with others who may have the same problem.

    We thought we were able to work around the autostarting Edge issue but it appears it didn't work fully for some. We'll keep looking for a better workaround.
