3 years agoHow long should 1Password Installer take?
I am running the installer for 1Password 8, and I have 7 installed now. I have a window that says "Waiting for data to be moved. Don't quit this app."
It's been an hour. How long should this take?

Extension Version: Not Provided
OS Version: macOS 12.3.1

I'm happy to hear that running the installer with 1Password 7 open worked for you. Are you now able to open and unlock 1Password 8 successfully on your Mac? Let me know if you see any other issues and I'll be happy to help further. 🙂

I am not sure what you mean by standalone vaults... I have three vaults listed: Work and Personal which are in my account so they both sync via 1Password to my phone, and an On My Mac one which I do not use.
Either way, keeping 1Password 7 open allowed them to move, so thanks for that! I closed 1Password 7 as its common practice to close apps when updating, I did not know it had to be open.

Do you have standalone vaults that are in need of migration? You may be running into an issue we're tracking. You can quit the installer (it won't result in any data loss). Ensure 1Password 7 is open and you can view your items, then keep the main window open when you run the 1Password 8 installer. This should ensure everything behaves as expected.
Let me know how you get on with that.

I am stuck on "Waiting for data to be moved. Don't quit this app" after a few hours. I cannot obtain 1Password 8 Diagnostics because it does not install 1Password 8, there is no 1Password 8 app or preferences, only 1Password Installer app with no preferences.
Please can you you advise what to do. I don't use a VPN like others mention they do.

Sorry for that panic. I have one account where 2FA is enabled and I can concur a moment of panic does set in when you get asked for the code and you're like, Oh no! I'm glad you had the phone.

Yes, that did it. I shut off Cloudflare Warp (1.1.1.1) — and nothing changed. Then I quit the “Don’t quit this app” installer, relaunched it, and it immediately downloaded 1Password 8.
I seem to be on board now. Distinct panic when 1Password asked me for my 2FA verification code and I couldn’t get to it because 1Password hadn’t launched yet. Thank the gods that I have 1Password on my phone and could get to it there. This could definitely be a problem for anyone with only a computer, though!

The diagnostics are inside the 1Password 8 app. I am not sure if the preferences will open for you while things are in the state they are. Please use the following to send a report from 7 and 8.
1Password 7:
How to create and send a 1Password 7 diagnostics report
- The report will be in zip format. Please send the entire file.
The diagnostic report doesn't include any private information like your logins, Password, or Secret Key. About 1Password diagnostics information
1Password 8:
Try pressing command and comma to access the preferences - advanced section. Do this will viewing 1Password 8.
- Click Advanced.
- Click Send Diagnostics.
- Click Reveal.
- Attach the
.1pdiagnostics
file saved in that folder to your reply.
If you are unable to access the 1Password 8 preferences please let me know.

Good to know, @olliedog ! Conversely, I am running a VPN — Cloudflare’s 1.1.1.1; I’ll just switch it off and see if that fixes it.
