Safari browser extension won't install
I am a longtime subscriber to 1Password but I held off upgrading to 1P8 until yesterday. I upgraded my 2017 Intel iMac (running macOS Ventura, the latest the machine can run, with the latest versions...

You're correct, if you have have a 1Password account and you can see all of your items when you log in to your 1Password account on 1Password.com (in the browser, not the app) then adding 1Password to your new Mac will only require two steps:
- Installing the 1Password for Mac desktop app: Download 1Password for Mac
- Installing the browser extension: Download 1Password for Your Browser
Once installed, you can use your Emergency Kit to add your 1Password account to the new device. Make sure to keep the Emergency Kit handy and to ensure that you're signed into 1Password on another device before you wipe the old Mac.
Regarding wiping your old Mac, I suggest that you follow Apple's official instructions on how to completely erase and prepare your mac for trade-in once you've verified that you see all of your items and files (both in 1Password and in other apps) on your new Mac: What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your Mac - Apple Support (CA)
