Similar issue here. I think TouchID stopped working in 1P since I updated my mac to 14.6.1 (23G93). In 1P's Security Settings, TouchID is unchecked and when I try to check it, the check mark input just blinks and the check immediately disappears. Do you need more logs?

Same issue as above - go to click the Touch ID check box, it flickers but won't stay ticked. On the latest version for my machine - 1Password for Mac 8.10.40 81040031, on PRODUCTION channel running on iOS 13.6.9 (22G830). Seems since the last few updates 1PW has become sluggish and now this issue. Touch ID works for opening the mac and its set as per the 1PW instructions.

    Hello folks,

If Apple Watch or Touch ID unlock are turned off after an update and you're unable to turn them back on but instead see the checkbox turn off by itself like the GIF below then you are likely running into a known issue that our development team is investigating and working on a fix for.

    image

The issue is caused by a conflict between two different lines in 1Password's settings.json file. You can workaround the issue, while preserving the rest of your settings by following these steps:

    1. Right-click on the 1Password icon in your menubar and click Quit.
    2. Click the Finder icon in the Dock.
    3. From the menu bar, choose Go > Go to Folder.
    4. Copy and paste the following, then press Return:
    • ~/Library/Group Containers/2BUA8C4S2C.com.1password/Library/Application Support/1Password/Data/settings
    1. Right-click on settings.json and choose Open With > TextEdit.
    2. Remove all of the following lines, if you see them:
    • "security.authenticatedUnlock.appleTouchId": true,
    • "security.authenticatedUnlock.appleWatchUnlock": true,
    1. Save settings.json and close TextEdit.
    2. Open and unlock 1Password for Mac from your Applications folder using your account password.
    3. Click on 1Password next to the  in the menu bar.
    4. Click Settings.
    5. Click Security.
    6. Turn Touch ID / Apple Watch unlock back on.

If that doesn't work then please let me know and I can help further. If you're running into a different Apple Watch or Touch ID issue then do not follow these steps but create a new thread.

HI Dave. This has worked for me on the app but neither safari or Chrome 1PW extensions show the Touch ID icon?

  • @Twobelowzero

Thanks for the reply. Try the following:

    1. Close all open web browsers.
    2. Right-click on the 1Password icon at the top of your Mac's screen and then click Quit. Wait until the icon disappears.
    3. Double-click on 1Password from your Mac's Applications folder.
    4. Open your web browser.

If that still doesn't work then make sure that app integration is turned on for 1Password in the app: 1Password > Settings > Browser > Connect with 1Password in the browser.

Let me know how that goes.

I also cannot enable Touch ID. I can check the box to enable it, but it immediately unchecks it. I have submitted my diagnostic report to the email you mentioned above.
