I'm sorry for the communication confusion. The team and I have now merged multiple threads together to keep the conversation in one place and to make sure that everyone affected sees updates on the situation going forward. If I've missed any threads that should be merged into this one, then let me know.
You can see the latest update that I posted yesterday right above your post; let me know if you have any questions after taking a look.
Thank you for your reply. I appreciate the details you've shared here. I've passed it along to our development team. 🙂

Just commenting that the new 18.3/15.3 Beta 2 doesn't resolve the issue. While I do get less frequent popups, it is still occurring on beta 2.

It's definitely less frequent, at least on my 15.3 beta 2, but appears to be around the same on iOS 18.3 beta 2. The thing that I have noticed is different is where before when I would get emails and plugin restarts while in browser, now it appears as though it happens returning from idle or app closure. So less aggressive than beta 1.

Good to know this issue isn’t just me lol.

Hello team,
I've been using 1Password for 5+ years and it used to work seamlessly all these years. In recent months it is nothing but a mess. I'm facing many issues with all my devices which I'll list below:
Safari on MacOS
- Randomly opens 2 tabs with welcome screen
- Takes several tries to actually trigger the signin (fingerprint) process.
- Even after authentication, it takes considerable time to load the passwords. Before it was near-instant.
- Sometimes the extension shows "Open 1Password", nothing happens if we click on it.
iOS
- Randomly opens tabs
- The emails! Every time I open Safari and enter a website, I get "New 1Password sign-in alert" email
As I see 1Password isn't following the mantra of "it just works" now. It has become so annoying and time consuming.
I would kindly ask you to reverse recent updates if needed, it maybe due to new sign in processes.

Just saw an update to the safari extension go live just now, 8.10.58 (Test Flight). It makes no mention of a resolution for this, but installing it now to see if I have a resolution.

I've installed the betas of the iOS/iPadOS 1Password app, as well as the macOS 1P for Safari extension. Very impressive list of changes to all of it, by the way. I've also updated to macOS 15.3 beta 2, where the changes are not that well documented. Early impressions are that the 1Password emails have been reduced from about 29/day to 2 in the last two days. I've also gotten the two Safari tabs on the Mac a couple times, which seem to indicate that the extension had crashed and restarted. So while it's not perfect it's a great improvement and much appreciated regardless of how it got fixed.

Definitely not trying to jinx anything, but it does appear that, so far, I haven't had any notices today after the updates. So we may have finally gone back to normal. For reference:
Mac OS 15.3 Beta 2
iOS 18.3 Beta 2
1Password for Safari Beta 8.10.58
1Password for iOS Beta 8.10.58After installing both 1Password updates, I was prompted with the tabs and the emails. However, since I haven't and it's been over 4 hours (previously this would be happening every few minutes). I'll update as the day goes on.

Does anyone know how to stop the very intrusive 1Password ad pages that have been plaguing my browsers on both my Mac and iPhone. They appear randomly and launch a new page that includes a link to begin using 1Password. However, my 1Password extension is active and doesn't need intervention. In the meantime, I don't have a 1Password extension associated with my iPhone Safari app. Thanks for any advice.

iPhone 16 Pro - iOS 18.3 (22D5040d)
MBP16 - macOS Sequoia 15.3 Beta (24D5040f)I discovered this thread searching for ways to turn off the tidal wave of "New 1Password sign-in alert" emails any time I touch 1PW. My iPhone and MBP16 kick off an alert email any time I unlock the app or extension. At first I thought it was due to traveling, but nope, they keep firing any time I use 1PW even at home.
I'm assuming that the extra alert emails are due to running the developer betas, but I noticed that the body of the "New 1Password sign-in alert" email has a section called 'Check trusted devices' that says:
"You can view and manage which devices have access to your account in Account Management>Trusted Devices." (links to: https://my.1password.com/profile).
However, there's no "Trusted Devices" in on my 1PW profile page.
The '1PW Device Trust' page (https://support.1password.com/device-trust/) reminds me that 1PW acquired Kolide on May 2, 2024 (https://www.kolide.com/blog/introducing-1password-extended-access-management-with-kolide).
I think that this flurry of 'trust alerts' and the removal of 'trusted devices' from 1PW are the result of a migration from 1PW oldTrust to 1PW newTrust (a.k.a. Kolide.)
I'm guessing that 1PW will roll out some version of Device Trust to its subscribers imminently...

Following. This is utter madness. I get dozens of new sign in emails each day every time I use any device, and no I am not using iCloud VPN or any other VPN.
I get two browser tabs open in every single safari profile every time I open safari. I get two tabs open in every safari application created from Add to Dock.
I want a setting on my 1P account to never ever ever see a plugin tab or tutorial ever again.
1P is falling apart at the edges and needs to go back to quality. What is the point of a beta release without asking for feedback on the release candidate before releasing it?

For some time (weeks?) I've been getting these frequently--I think there was a situation in which it offered to send more emails and I said yes?--even though I can verify the IP address, suggesting it's me (on Mac/iPad/iPhone).
Generally these are devices I use frequently so I would assume I wouldn't be getting notifications for these sign-ins....Am I missing something? And I don't see a way to turn off these notifications.
Thanks!

Hi, since moving to iOS 18.3 public beta (and iPadOS 18.3 public beta) nearly every time I open safari (usually after a couple minutes since last use), I’m getting login alerts for all three of my accounts every single time. I’m sure I can disable the email alerts, but this behavior is a nuisance and unexpected.

“Reauthorize after” was set to 1 day, changed to two weeks now to see if that changes anything.

Separate issue with the plugin — default vault keeps changing each time it reauthorizes, isn’t saving that setting.

@david.m_1P can you add me to the list of affected users as well? This has been happening to me for quite a while. I tried disabling the plugin on my iPhone, but it was re-enabled automatically since it is enabled on my MacBook. In the interim, I will disable it on both devices. I have only been affected on my iPhone, not the MacBook.

I am getting these browser restart alerts on safari (and possibly others) in both MacOS and IOS. In all cases they simply alert me that I need to sign into 1Password. I would prefer not to get these alerts and I'll sign into 1Password as needed.

Running latest versions of both IOS and macOS. On iPad/iPhone every time I unlock the device (don’t even have to open safari) I receive a New Signin email alert from 1Password. Have had it a number of times in macOS too. 1 or 2 some days but today more than a dozen. Driving me mad!
Any thoughts?

I see excessive “The 1Password browser extension needed to restart” messages. 1Password is working fine, but these windows pop up periodically. Closing them and continuing work. I suspect this could be related to the current developer beta on macOS.

Following. A first for 1Password from me (I usually recommend 1Password to everyone; even bought a family pass recently to improve my parents and gfs security)… with this, it feels amateur. I have to explain to my family that they should just disable the safari extension on their iPhones? Come on you guys! I have to be like “it’s a great product they’re just having glitches with the way Apple improves your securty posture in their own way”, to which “why don’t I just use apple’s own passwords manager then?” And I have to explain ecosystem lock in at that point. Ugh, please 1Pass, step back from expansion and marketing and focus on your core product for a beat, otherwise you’re going to erode your loyal base.
Why should I bother paying for a cloud product that doesn’t work as well as it did when I was managing 1Pass database files between usb keys and Dropbox like I did 12 years ago?
What’s the ETA for the patch at this point? You need to handle the fact that safari is taking privacy into its own hands and find the correct solution to managing logins for that. Separately you need to handle for iCloud private relay. You need to provide a means for iOS users to preferably use 1Password over Apple’s own passwords manager… This includes intercepting when Apple’s Passwords takes precedence on suggesting a password on new sign ups, and not relying on workarounds like “just disable it in Safari”.
Can you imagine your car stopped working every time you drove it over 30mph, and the mechanic’s suggestion is “oh, just drive it under 30 and you’ll be good”. That’s the solution 1Password is offering in this thread.

Hello everyone,
Please see my colleague's post here for the latest update.
I want to thank everyone again for helping us to test 1Password on the beta versions of iOS and macOS so that we can catch and resolve issues like this before the stable release. Our team continues to work with our friends at Apple to find a solution to the issue as well as to implement workarounds in our own code. I hope to have more news to share soon and I'm sorry for the continued inconvenience.
If you're experiencing issues when using the stable version of iOS or macOS (not the beta) then please send an email to
support+forum@1Password.com
so that we can investigate that separately.-Dave

I was having similar issues with the login notification emails and then random browser tabs would open saying welcome to 1Password. The random tabs seem to be related to the "Getting Started" tutorial. No matter how many times I tried to complete it, nothing appeared. Today, I opened the app, loaded a webpage, then opened the extension in Safari and clicked on the "one step to go." It loaded a blank tab that appeared to do nothing. After about a minute, I closed everything and tried to repeat the same set of steps and I have a "0" next to Start Here.
This seems to solve the random tab issue, but not the email issue.
This is on the latest iOS and iPadOS public betas (18.3).

As a beta tester on iOS, iPadOS, MacOS, VisionPro OS – this has been incredibly annoying every few minutes, times 4 devices.
However, I felt compelled to login in to defend the 1Password team here a bit:
People, you do realise you are running beta software right? The sole purpose of which is to test software bugs before it reaches a final public release. And not only have you voluntarily signed up to test Apple's OSs, but every piece of software's interaction with it – in and out of Apple. No one has guaranteed you a smooth ride here nor are they obligated to.To extend an analogy attempted above:
Imagine you drove a car out of the manufacturer before it's was fully assembled, then called them back after driving for a bit and complained: Why did the turn indicator fall off when I jiggled it sideways and the car keeps telling me to put my seatbelt on even when I've had it on the entire time??
If you're not prepared to be patient and helpful with this process, you're not prepared to be a beta tester. Restore your device to the last stable release and move on with your life.
Apart from fixing the bug, I do like the other permanent suggestion of adding a toggle to manually opt out of any future welcome screens.

@SirShanksalot thank you for saying what I’ve been thinking every time I get one of these emails.
This is a beta app on a beta operating system. In return for the latest features, things break sometimes.
It appears that the issue is being actively worked on with 1Password and Apple, and I’m hopeful for a resolution.
If you can’t live with this issue, then you shouldn’t be using beta software.
