Thanks for fixing. I'm not sure what was more frustrating, having to unlock every time or the fact that I had to enter the PW every time because biometrics were also not working. :(
Thankfully, all appears to be well again after updating again. FYI, I didn't get the "Update" option in the app store by going and searching. I went through the app settings and clicked on Browser, which opened the app store and then prompted me with the Update option.0 -
Good news. The latest version 8.10.44 of the 1Password 8 desktop app and the 1Password for Safari web extension has fixed the connection issue. Therefore, can you update your 1Password 8 desktop app and the 1Password for Safari web extension:
After the updates, let's quit Safari by right-clicking(ctrl + click) its icon in the Dock area and selecting "Quit". Then, open & unlock the 1Password 8 desktop app first, restart Safari to see if 1Password extension is unlocked there automatically.
Can you let me know if the updates help to fix your issue?

Fixed! But I had to uninstall and reinstall 1P for Safari after reading this. No notification or obvious way to check for an update.

I've updated to version 8.10.44. It's working now.

1Password can be opened using fingerprint reader on Mac keyboard. However, this does not unlock 1Password Extension. Can only open extension by typing password.
Tried rebooting Mac, but this action did not help.
1Password Version: 8.10.44
Extension Version: 2.27.1
OS Version: Mac OS 14.6.1 (23G93)

I agree with joisagile. I have the same issue. I am on all the identical versions and find it won't work correctly with Safari. It will work with my Brave browser. This issue occurred after the recent update to Safari.

I've just updated on one of my MacBook Pros and it works, thanks a lot to the 1P Team!

I had the same issue. To make it work, I had to use the CleanMyMac app to uninstall the extension fully.

I just did an update from the App Store for the extension and it's back to working. That update appeared sometime in the past 14h.

To make it work, I had to use the CleanMyMac app to uninstall the extension fully and then install it again.

I'm glad to hear things are looking up. I would not have expected you to need to use a clearer.

Since 1Password for Safari is installed from the App Store you would check for updates from that store.

Hi @jac.pd_1p
The updates fixed this issue for me. All works well now. Thank you

I was using the TestFlight/Beta version of 1Password for Safari app, which had a lower version number than the production version. When I updated to the Production version in the App Store, it started working again. For those of us using the beta version, maybe you could update the TestFlight version to match the Production version?

This drives me crazy. It was working in the past but after the latest updates, it simply does not work. I have to manually write the password to the Safari Extension, even if I have macOS unlocked and open.
Please fix this.
1Password Version: 8.10.44
Extension Version: 2.27.1
OS Version: macOS 14.6.1 (23G93)

Now I see that there is an update available for the Safari extension from yesterday.
Can I set it to update automatically please? It makes sense to install it together.
Alternatively, at least throw me a modal alert that I should do this, otherwise it won't work well (set up minimal supported version of Safari Extension in macOS app & detect the current vs. latest).

Hello folks,
I'm sorry again for the frustration caused by 1Password for Safari not integrating with the desktop app, causing features like Touch ID, Apple Watch unlock, and shared lock state not to work. We recently released a new update to 1Password for Safari where we’ve fixed app integration. If you haven't updated yet then follow the steps in this guide (which will also tell you how to keep automatic updates turned on):
If you still have trouble using 1Password for Safari after updating to version 8.10.44 then please let us know by creating a new thread so that we can investigate the specific issue on your device further. 🙂
